Job Title: Mechanical Installation Technician

Job Description

This role focuses on installing mechanical systems, chutes, HMIs, and related interfaces inside a large, fast-paced warehouse environment. You will use a variety of hand and power tools to install wires, cables, and mechanical components while closely following blueprints and standard operating procedures. The position requires comfort with physical labor, working at heights up to 6 feet, and handling both large and small parts with precision.

Responsibilities

• Install chutes, mechanical systems, and human-machine interfaces (HMIs) according to project specifications.
• Use a wide range of hand and power tools to assemble and install mechanical and electrical components.
• Install wires and cables, ensuring proper routing, connections, and secure fastening.
• Work with both large and small parts, maintaining accuracy and attention to detail during installation.
• Read, interpret, and follow blueprints and standard operating procedures (SOPs) without deviating from instructions.
• Measure and mark installation points using a tape measure and other basic measuring tools.
• Perform mechanical assembly, including fitting, fastening, and aligning components.
• Support general labor tasks such as loading, unloading, cleaning, and organizing materials and equipment.
• Assist with installation, repair, and service activities as needed in an industrial and construction-style environment.
• Adhere to quality assurance standards and perform basic checks on completed installations.
• Operate material handling equipment such as forklifts when required and if qualified.
• Maintain inventory awareness for parts and tools used during installations.
• Work safely at heights of up to 6 feet, following all site safety guidelines.
• Communicate and coordinate with on-site advisors and service teams to complete work efficiently.
• Maintain a clean and orderly work area in a busy production and warehouse setting.

Essential Skills

• Proven ability to work with a variety of hand and power tools in an industrial, construction, or mechanical environment.
• Ability to read and use a tape measure accurately.
• Capability to read, understand, and follow blueprints and standard operating procedures (SOPs) without deviation.
• Mechanical aptitude with experience in mechanical assembly, installation, or repair.
• Comfort working at heights up to 6 feet.
• Ability to lift, carry, push, or pull equipment and materials up to 50 lbs.
• Ability to stand and walk for extended periods during an 8–10 hour shift.
• Experience in general labor, production, or industrial settings.
• Basic understanding of electrical components, wiring, and schematics.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality and safety.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience in construction, carpentry, or general contracting environments.
• Experience in mechanical technician work, service, or field installation.
• Familiarity with cable installation and routing in industrial or warehouse settings.
• Experience with forklifts or other material handling equipment.
• Exposure to quality assurance processes in a production or warehouse environment.
• Ability to work effectively in a very fast-paced, labor-intensive setting.
• Strong teamwork and communication skills for coordinating with advisors and service teams.
• Valid identification suitable for worksite access.

Work Environment

The position is based inside a large, active warehouse facility with many moving parts and ongoing operations. You will work around automated and mechanical systems alongside on-site advisors and service teams in a very fast-paced, labor-intensive environment. The standard schedule is Monday through Friday with some Saturdays as needed, typically 8–10 hours per day, starting at approximately 7:00 a.m., with the need to be available before and after the standard shift when required. Work is primarily on your feet, involving frequent walking, lifting, and manual handling of tools and materials. The dress code includes steel-toe footwear, jeans, and a work shirt, along with any additional safety gear provided or required on site.

This is a Contract position based out of Richmond, VA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $24.00 - $24.00/hr.
