Onsite/Remote:Onsite Position

Your Responsibilities

As a Technician ME, Heat Treat for the John Deere Heat Treat Operations located in Waterloo, IA, you will:

  • Work a typical 5-day, 40-hour week (Monday through Friday), and be available to work overtime on the weekends (Saturday and/or Sunday), as needed
  • Collect, section, polish and perform metallurgical analyses on heat treat test pieces; determine if test pieces are within or out of specification; contact the manufacturing engineer and/or hold the suspect material, as needed
  • Utilize laser marking device to identify individual test pieces prior to placing in totes for distribution to the shop floor for use
  • Submit a daily production part to the metallurgical lab for analysis; attend weekly data reviews; complete a monthly furnace audit with test pieces in all corners of work envelope
  • Assist manufacturing engineers with their daily work responsibilities as time permits

  • Desire to work in a dynamic, shop floor manufacturing environment
What Makes You Stand Out

  • Basic knowledge of heat treatment of ferrous metals
  • Knowledge of material properties and metallurgical analysis
  • Basic understanding of statistical process control
  • Demonstrated experience with advanced spreadsheet and statistical analysis tools
  • Some technical knowledge of manufacturing processes, ability to work with hand tools, polishing equipment and some laboratory equipment
Education

Ideally you will have a degree or equivalent related work experience in the following:

  • High school diploma
