The Key Shop Specialist at Utah Valley University plays an integral role in maintaining a safe, accessible, and well-functioning campus environment. This position offers the opportunity to support an expansive university community by assisting customers, coordinating key orders, and helping manage both physical and electronic access systems across UVU facilities. Working closely with experienced locksmiths, the specialist contributes to day-to-day campus operations while developing practical skills in security systems, access control, and customer service.

  • Clerical functions, including organization, typing, receptionist duties, answering phones, filing, record keeping, taking messages, resolving problems, handling complaints, organizing, and generating reports and work orders.
  • Making and filing keys; programming and monitoring computer managed access devices on campus.
  • Administer access to doors, buildings, cabinets, equipment, and vehicles on campus.
  • Conducts key audits across campus.
  • Perform other job related duties as assigned.
Graduation from an accredited institution with an associate's degree and one year of experience; OR any combination of education/experience related to the Summary of Duties totaling three years.

Preferred Qualifications:
An associate's degree or equivalent is preferred. Knowledge
  • Familiarity with the use of hand tools, low-voltage electricity, and trade work.
  • Knowledge of basic computer systems and applications, including Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Experience using hand tools, both power and manual.
  • Knowledge of key and card access software (preferred).
  • Experience with door systems and electronic access control systems (preferred).
