Intern Role 1: Technical Strategy & Market Modeling Intern (Graduate Level Preferred)
Function: Emerging Segments & Intelligence
Business Need:
Support the development of structured techno-economic models and market analyses that inform Fluence’s strategy in emerging segments such as data centers and grid-integrated storage. The team requires additional analytical capacity to translate engineering assumptions, market dynamics, and infrastructure economics into business cases, forecasts, and strategic positioning outputs.
Project Scope:
· Build and refine techno-economic models for energy storage applications (e.g., data centers, grid-use cases)
· Analyze market opportunities, including market sizing, segmentation, and competitive dynamics
· Support development of structured scenario analyses and long-term forecasts
· Translate technical system assumptions into commercial insights (cost, value, performance)
· Contribute to strategy outputs linking modeling results to product and go-to-market positioning
Top Deliverables (Project Driven):
1. Techno-economic model for a defined use case (e.g., data center architecture or energy storage deployment scenario)
2. Market sizing or segmentation analysis for a priority emerging segment
3. Scenario-based strategic output (e.g., comparison of multiple architectures / market pathways with implications for Fluence positioning)
End Results (Intern Learning Outcomes):
· Experience building and applying techno-economic models in real infrastructure use cases
· Understanding of how engineering, market, and economic factors combine in energy strategy decisions
· Exposure to market intelligence, forecasting methodologies, and scenario planning
· Ability to translate complex modeling outputs into strategic recommendations for business decisions
