Cisco is looking for an experienced Technical Leader - Optical Component & Reliability Engineer to lead optical device and assembly process qualification for Cisco's optical transceiver products. You'll work closely with both internal design and process development teams and Cisco’s external partners to assess, select and qualify optoelectronic components such as lasers and photodetectors, as well as higher-level optical assemblies and packaging solutions. Primary responsibilities include technical assessment of III-V component suppliers, conducting design and process reviews to ensure manufacturing readiness and product quality, assessing reliability risks, development and execution of device qualification plans, creation and management of relevant documentation. You will also partner with internal teams to support development efforts for next generation advanced devices and optical integration platforms.
Who You'll Work With
You will work in a highly collaborative, cross-functional environment that includes engineering, operations and supply chain teams to create next generation silicon & photonics technologies within Cisco. The role has a large scope, cross-organizational visibility and the potential to influence critical technology development, as well as influence commodity strategy for Cisco's various product platforms.
Who You Are
You will have experience in III-V laser design and/or process engineering and able to optimize a laser design and process to maximize its reliability performance and burn-in yield while keeping costs at a reasonable level. You enjoy working in a cross-functional environment with engineering, operations and supply chain partners to drive proper laser procurement decisions, laser process and assembly decisions and burn-in testing to meet reliability requirements. You will have a strong understanding of optical interactions and design rules. A Strong knowledge of III-V failure analysis techniques and knowledge of optoelectronic packaging design and test interactions will be a plus that will aid your ability to solve fabrication process issues, lead 8D or model-based problem solving and facilitate with data analysis. Why Cisco
#WeAreCisco, where each person is unique, but we bring our talents to work as a team and make a difference powering an inclusive future for all.
We embrace digital, and help our customers implement change in their digital businesses. Some may think we’re “old” (36 years strong) and only about hardware, but we’re also a software company. And a security company. We even invented an intuitive network that adapts, predicts, learns and protects. No other company can do what we do – you can’t put us in a box!
But “Digital Transformation” is an empty buzz phrase without a culture that allows for innovation, creativity, and yes, even failure (if you learn from it.)
Day to day, we focus on the give and take. We give our best, give our egos a break, and give of ourselves (because giving back is built into our DNA.) We take accountability, bold steps, and take difference to heart. Because without diversity of thought and a dedication to equality for all, there is no moving forward.
