Our client, an American retailer that owns and operates 4 brands that are well known, is looking for someone to join their team as a Technical Designer. This role is onsite in San Francisco, California.
*This is 7-month W2 contract*
This role plays a critical part in ensuring the garments meet established fit standards, quality expectations, manufacturer capabilities, and cost targets while preserving design intent.
What You Will Be Doing
- Develop and maintain technical specifications and fit standards across assigned product categories
- Communicate clearly with vendors and factories to review approvals and implement corrections
- Partner cross-functionally with Design, Product Development, and Production teams to maintain integrity of approved prototypes
- Make appropriate adjustments with factories to ensure fit accuracy while supporting cost targets
- Monitor garment construction quality throughout the development lifecycle
- Support and help guide Assistant Technical Designers when applicable
Required Skills & Experience
- 3+ years of similar experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Fashion Design, Technical Design, Apparel Development, or equivalent experience
- Strong understanding of garment construction, pattern evaluation, and fit standards
- Experience developing technical specifications and managing vendor communications
- Ability to balance design intent, manufacturing capability, and cost considerations
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Collaborative mindset with the ability to work cross-functionally
