Akima Global Logistics is looking for a Technical Buyer onsite in Huntsville, AL. The Technical Buyer performs procurement of materials and hardware in support of the Marshall Logistics Support Services II contract at NASA Marshall Space Flight Center (MSFC). The work involves all steps from material requests to closeout of Purchase Orders, credit card purchases, and updating of company and government work management systems in the procurement process. This is an on-site position, with regular work hours Monday thru Friday and mission support may be needed outside of normal duty hours. The Technical Buyer is a procurement specialist level position and an integral part of the mission AGL supports at MSFC. This opportunity is contingent based upon contract award.
Responsibilities- Procures flight certified hardware in accordance with Government procurement regulations. The duties involve evaluation, selection, negotiation, technical liaison, and other administration duties for a wide variety of procurement purchase instruments.
- Research vendors and products; analyzes quotes, recommends or selects suppliers, prepares, tracks and closes purchase orders, schedules deliveries.
- Work involves providing status on outstanding hardware deliveries and staying abreast of current approved vendors.
- Communication with center customers/programs as well as outside vendors for updates and information.
- Works closely with technical personnel to have a thorough knowledge of the hardware and to ensure quality specifications are translated into purchasing requirements.
- Knowledge required for this position includes the Government purchasing practices and procedures, and skill in preparing and analyzing complex technical specifications and bids alongside the technical personnel.
- Obtains materials from suppliers at the lowest cost consistent with considerations of quality, reliability of source and urgency of need.
- Can handle complex information and inquiries from both internal and external stakeholders in a customer service focused environment.
- Data entry into work management and accounting systems for initiation, update and closeout actions.
- Proficient in using Microsoft office software such as outlook and excel functions.
Qualifications- Bachelor's Degree with 5 years relevant experience OR
- 7 years of equivalent experience in lieu of degree.
- Experience in/knowledge of Government purchasing practices and procedures.
- US Citizenship and REAL ID required. Must meet federal requirements for access to government information; dual citizenship may affect eligibility.
- Strong computer skills and able to navigate use of computer systems independently.
Preferred Qualification:
- Experience working within Deltek Costpoint and Maximo CMMS is a plus.
