The State Highway Administration’s (SHA) Office of Traffic and Safety (OOTS)is currently recruitingfor aTeam Leader (Transportation Design Engineer V)in Anne Arundel County. This position is open to anyone who meets the minimum and selective qualifications listed below. This is a position specific recruitment. Nature of Work:The Team Leader will function as a Licensed Professional Engineer performing the duties of Team Leader in the Traffic Engineering Design Division (TEDD). This position is responsible for the supervision, management, administration, and coordination of complex engineering designs for Traffic Control Devices (TCD) and Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) statewide. The Team Leader supervises a team comprised of licensed and non-licensed engineers and consultants. This position will perform design, review, and approve the TCD and ITS design for multiple projects, including areawide projects, formally advertised projects, insert projects, developer projects, and shop force projects. The Team Leader provides guidance and oversight of the design and project management performed by the team members, participates in the development of budgets, processes, procedures, and standards for TCD and ITS design, and tracks and monitors monthly expenditure for design consultants and construction contracts.
The Team Leader manages one or more programs administered by TEDD. Duties include program coordination, budgeting, scheduling, design task oversight, representing the State Highway Administration (SHA) at various meetings, developing and updating program guidelines, responding to program-related inquiries, etc. This position assists in training, guidance, and coaching of in-house designers, technicians, and engineers performing TCD and ITS design.

The incumbent in this position will not be a member of a covered bargaining unit.
