About the Role
This senior-level, compliance-driven
Tax Senior Accountant position is designed to support long-term career progression, including a pathway to a Manager role. The role also emphasizes collaboration and relationship-building with internal teams, prospective employees, investors, and other stakeholders.
What We’re Looking For
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting with experience in federal taxation, multi-state jurisdictions, and partnership accounting concepts.
- Prior experience in a CPA firm or comparable tax-focused role is strongly preferred.
- Solid understanding of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and the ability to apply them in a practical, real-world setting.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to learn quickly and work effectively with minimal supervision.
- Service-oriented mindset with the ability to communicate professionally, respectfully, and compassionately with a variety of stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
- Tax & Regulatory Compliance:
- Support corporate and multi‑state tax compliance including, but not limited to:
- Jurisdictional tax research
- Business licensing
- Audit or examination support, documentation and response coordination
- Fiscal year-end tax readiness
- 1099 reporting
- Annual workpaper preparation
- Federal and State income tax filings
- Prepare and file periodic sales, use, occupancy, lodging, and related tax reports across applicable jurisdictions.
- Manage real and personal property tax reporting, payment processing, estimates, balances, and accruals.
- Perform fixed asset accounting, including depreciation analysis, reconciliation, and reporting.
- Complete assigned monthly compliance and tax reporting for investment, corporate, and related entities.
Financial Reporting & Team Collaboration:
- Collaborate on financial reporting processes, including rent roll preparation, financial statement support, and the Community Accountant role.
- Participate in budget planning and preparation activities.
- Support staff development initiatives, including training and onboarding of new team members and interns.
- Assist with advanced accounting review and analysis, including bank reconciliations, expense allocations, recurring transactions, error resolution, and intercompany accounting.
System, Tools & Technology:
- Utilize ERP, accounting, and financial reporting systems to support tax compliance, reporting accuracy, and operational efficiency.
- Work within company platforms including: Census App, PM3, Event1, Sage 300, AvidXchange, AnterraBI, Timberscan, and eProcurement systems.
