Brief Description:

The Income Tax Manager is primarily responsible for overseeing all U.S. state and local income taxes for the Company including all provision, compliance, controversy, planning, and other related matters.  This role will also support the areas of U.S. federal and / or international income tax as needed.  This is a very hands-on role that will include substantial preparation and some review work. 

 

This position will work under the direction of the Director of Tax.

 

Detailed Description:

  • Responsible for all U.S. state and local income tax matters (compliance, provision, controversy, planning).

  • Prepare quarterly and year-end income tax provisions for U.S. state and local income taxes.

  • Prepare and / or review all U.S. state and local income tax compliance matters including returns, extensions, and estimated payments.

  • Prepare and / or review all U.S. state and local income tax calculations such as apportionment, state tax adjustments, credits and other state specific tax attributes.

  • Monitor current U.S. state and local income tax developments and legislative changes. Advise Tax Leadership on tax issues relevant to the Company.

  • Perform various U.S. state and local income tax technical research analysis and memo documentation.

  • Assist with Sarbanes Oxley Act (SOX) internal control documentation.

  • Prepare quarterly U.S. state and local income cash tax projections.

  • Maintain all U.S. state and local income tax attribute trackers.

  • Assist with various U.S. state and local income tax planning initiatives.

  • Assist with U.S. state and local income tax matters related to merger / acquisition / transaction structuring and due diligence analysis.

  • Maintain and reconcile all U.S. state and local income tax accounts.

  • Continually improve processes and assist with implementing best practices and automation.

  • Prepare and / or review other U.S. federal and / or U.S. international income tax compliance and / or provision items as needed.

  • Other duties and projects which could include areas outside of U.S. state and local income tax.

  • Share knowledge across the organization both inside and outside of Tax.

 

 

Job Requirements:

  • Knowledge of a broad range of U.S. state, local, and federal income tax laws

  • Ability to make and support decisions regarding tax matters

  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree

  • 6+ years of total U.S. state and / or federal income tax experience for multinational corporations
  • 3+ years of experience with ASC 740 income tax provisions and compliance

  • 2+ years of U.S. state corporate income tax experience

  • 2+ years of income tax experience with Big 4 accounting firms or national accounting firms

  • 2+ years of managerial and /or project management experience

 

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) and / or Masters of Science in Taxation (MST)

Working Conditions:

Work is primarily in a climate controlled / office environment with minimal safety / health hazard potential. The employee is regularly required to sit, stand, or walk with occasional lifting (overhead, waist level) from floor, bending and frequent near vision use for reading and use of computer, telephone and other office equipment. The job may require some overtime including weekend or holidays.
