The COMM Applications team based in Huntsville, AL has a new opportunity for an individual who wants to grow their technical expertise on complex programs and be a part of an innovative and fast-paced avionics business area. Teams are composed of cross-functional engineers working in an AGILE environment focused on the design and development of software application products. Our team focuses on creating avionics solutions for both fixed-wing and rotary-wing aircraft, including the integration of various radios and surveillance equipment for domestic and international military customers.

We are looking for a Systems Engineer II to join our TCMA team in Huntsville, AL. The successful candidate will be responsible for design, development, integration and verification of military avionics solutions. Candidates will engage in development of advanced architecture and algorithms to exploit and enhance radio communication capabilities of Military Helicopter pilots and crews.

What You Will Do:

  • Assist in leading Systems engineering development tasks within the Agile framework.
  • Present technical information and status to the Agile team and immediate levels of engineering leadership.
  • Work with other team members and domains to maintain and develop requirements and design to satisfy customer needs.
  • Continually work to maintain compliance with Agile team as well as Collins Aerospace standards and best practices.
  • Develop automated and semi-automated software test scripts via Python language.
  • Perform testing for verifying software builds in an integrated test environment.
  • Support formal verification events during major deliveries. Continually develop and improve practices and processes related to test development.
  • 25% travel as needed.

Qualifications You Must Have:

  • Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and minimum 2 years of prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field.
  • Test Automation (Python) experience.
  • Must have or be capable of obtaining a US Department of Defense (DoD) security clearance after day 1.

  • Ethernet bus protocol experience (TCP/UDP) CDU-900 or CDU-7000 experience

  • Ability to collaborate well across multiple disciplines
  • Highly self-motivated and contributing to a positive work environment
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Engineering Tool experience (DOORS, ALM, JIRA, Enterprise Architect, etc.)
  • Experience with multiple software and test life-cycle phases, a strong lean/agile mentality, and a passion to build great products is desired.

The salary range for this role is 68,900 USD - 131,100 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
