The SVP, Chief Information Officer will be responsible for the strategy, delivery, and execution of technology solutions for Argo Group. The role leads the DTS organization, including application development, infrastructure management, project management, and digital development. As a key Executive Team member reporting to the Group CAO, this position will partner with business leaders and functional leaders to implement improved technology solutions and support current solutions. The role requires deep vendor relationship skills to manage key suppliers while continuing to meet financial objectives. A candidate should have a blend of problem-solving, practical application, and forward-looking perspective to manage and lead this critical function for Argo Group.

This is an in-office or hybrid role.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Lead strategic technology planning through coordination with business and functional leaders and vendors

  • Build, adapt, and maintain a modern, efficient application and infrastructure organization

  • Collaborate with business leaders to provide technology solutions that support business objectives

  • Manage, develop, establish, and review key vendor relationships

  • Integrate digital tools, thought process and delivery while maintaining and decommissioning legacy systems and process

  • Establish and maintain governance processes including performance measurement, Business Continuity, and Disaster Recovery.

  • Manage and control all aspects of the software development life cycle (SDLC) including:

  • Short-term and long-term roadmaps

  • Project plans including funding, scheduling, milestones, delivery and maintenance

  • Resource plans including sourcing, estimating and coordinating internal and external resources

  • Implementation

  • Testing and quality assurance

  • Documentation

  • Deployment and maintenance

  • Establish and maintain quality assurance process

  • Define and maintain policies and standards for acquiring, implementing, and operating technology solutions

  • Balance use of external vendor resources vs. internal resources

  • Responsibility for all technology for operating expenses and capital budgets

Qualifications

  • 15+ years of technology experience required with minimum 10 years' experience with insurance applications
  • Full mastery and technical understanding of key aspects of core finance and insurance systems including general ledgers, underwriting, policy processing, billing, claims, and statistical data requirements) with considerable knowledge of P&C insurance business and processes
  • Proven experience leading the successful design, development, delivery, support and maintenance of large-scale, high performing, technically complex, insurance applications
  • Proven track record selecting, managing and directing complex vendor relationships
  • Solid and broad understanding of fiscal management and adapting to changing financial constraints
  • Successful experience in leading, coaching, mentoring and managing high-performing teams
  • Ability to independently balance competing priorities, complex situations and tight deadlines
  • Highly creative and innovative with an eye for detail
  • Ability to know when (and when not) to use technology to solve business problems
  • A personal motivation and determination to execute and deliver
  • Ability to thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced, matrix environment
  • Excellent written communication and oral communication skills

The range provided is for US-based hires only and will be commensurate with candidate experience. In addition to base salary, all employees are eligible for an annual bonus based on company and individual performance as well as a generous benefits package.

Pay Range:

$312,800-$385,200 USD
