About this Position:
This position assists the Professional Surveyor in the Location and Survey Section to plan, coordinate, and execute the collection and processing of advanced survey data to produce topographic, drainage, and control surveys for the Office of Engineering and the Statewide Topographic Mapping Initiative.

Possession of a current Louisiana license to practice professional land surveying plus one of the following:

One year of licensed land surveying experience; OR

Five years of professional land surveying experience.

NOTE:
Surveying experience gained while licensed as a professional land surveyor will be accepted as licensed land surveying experience.

Surveying experience gained after earning a bachelor’s degree and 30 semester hours in land surveying, mapping, and real property courses and prior to earning a Professional Land Surveyor license (e.g., as a Surveyor Intern or equivalent) will be accepted as professional-level surveying experience.The official job specifications for this role, as defined by the State Civil Service, can be found here.

Job Duties:

  • Computes, edits, prepares and plots survey data obtained by survey teams. Also will QA/QC surveys prepared by others before final production.

  • Serves as a survey team leader of one or more teams of employees to engage in collecting, measuring, and locating features of land areas.

  • Assists in the preparation and coordination of surveying efforts to complete jobs in a timely manner.

  • Reviews and monitors surveys prepared by professional consultants for accuracy, completeness and conformance to agency standards.

  • Prepares and/or assists in the preparation of contracts and task orders for consultants to obtain LiDAR/Photogrammetry/UAV data for the department.

  • Assists with presentations for DOTD sponsored conferences and meetings.

Appointment Type: This position may be filled as either a probational appointment (open to all qualified applicants); a promotion (open to all statewide classified and Agency-wide permanent status employees); or by detail to special duty.
