Essential Job Functions
Assumes responsibility for lab instruction of assigned course(s).
Facilitates a learning and caring environment, which encourages critical thinking, investigation, self-direction, and respect for the uniqueness of everyone.
Instruct students in all required lab competencies and patient positioning.
Oversee practice, demonstration, simulation, and lab remediation
Remains current with trends, issues, and practices in surgical technology and follows ARC/STSA standards.
Support the development and maintenance of simulation experiences, laboratory activities, and experiments in the Surgical Technology lab setting.
Supervise all student activities in the lab setting.
Employment Qualifications
Required Minimum Education:
Associates-Surgical Technology
Preferred Education:
Bachelor's-Higher Education
Other Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required: -Knowledge of skills, equipment and technology used in Surgical Technology; ability to teach, coach, inspire, and evaluate students; skillful in interpersonal and written communication.
Other Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:
Knowledge of ARC/STSA Standards; ability to work with a diverse group of students; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
Minimum Years and Type of Experience Required:- Have a minimum total of two years of experience, either in the operating room scrub role or as an instructor in surgical technology, or preferably a combination of both, within the past five years.
Minimum Years and Type of Experience Preferred: - Have a minimum total of five years of experience, either in the operating room scrub role or as an instructor in surgical technology, or a combination of both, within the past ten years.
