SURGICAL SERVICES AT RILEY CHILDREN'S HOSPITAL:

As one of the leading pediatric heart surgery programs in the nation, Riley Children’s Health is highly skilled in heart surgery. According to U.S. News and World Report, Riley Children’s is among the top 10 in the nation for highly complex surgical volume. We treat more infants, children and teenagers with heart conditions than any other children’s hospital in Indiana.


WHAT WILL YOU DO:

Surgical Skilled Technologists provide service and support before, during, and after surgical procedures. Assists in ensuring the presence and proper arrangement of surgical equipment, supplies and instrumentation in the operating room prior to each operation. Provides assistance to the surgeon in the operating room as allowed by professional and legal standards. Assists in the turnover of the operating room after the procedure ensuring proper routing and/or processing of all specimens, equipment, instrumentation and supplies. Works as a member of the surgical team with surgeons, anesthesiologists, registered nurses, and other surgical personnel.

What is Needed to Join IU Health?

  • Requires a High School Diploma/GED.
  • Requires certification as a Certified Surgical Technologist obtained from the NBSTSA within four months of employment.
  • Requires a minimum of one year of CVOR experience.
  • Preferred experience working with pediatric patients but not required

Certifications:

  • Requires Basic Life Support certification through the AHA.
