Surgery Scheduler - Registered Nurse (RN)

Major Responsibilities:

Responsible for the maintenance of an efficient and effective surgery schedule.

1)Assumes responsibility for the surgery schedule, arranges schedule with surgeon offices for maximum efficiency.

2)Collaborates with materials, surgical specialists, team leaders and O.R. manager to make sure all necessary supplies, instrumentation and implants are available for use .

3)Collaborates with leadership to meet staffing requirements to accomplish schedule.

4)Coordinates the surgery schedule to accommodate all cases.

5)Coordinates with scheduling staff for maximum OR utilization.

6)Collaborates with anesthesia and radiology to assure coverage of cases.

7)Coordinates the use of all information systems to ensure that data entry is accurate.

Inter and Intra departmental, and physician working relationships are managed in order to achieve continued physician engagement and excellent patient care.

1)Collaborates with physicians, nurses and other health care team members to assure delivery of quality perioperative care.

2)Communicates and collaborates with Team leaders, Manager and Director when opportunities for improved individual and department performance arise.

3)Actively participates in hospital committees, process improvement intiatives and projects.

4)Identifies opportunities for conflict management and collaborates with the health care team to address these.

Collaborates with Clinical manager to monitor and assess staff developmental needs to ensure competence.

1)Provides input for performance reviews to the Clinical Manager.

2)Provides mentoring to associates when opportunities arise.

3)Identifies associate learning needs and communicates these to the educator.

4)Provides feedback to clinical manager regarding associate performance.

Associates are coached and mentored in order to direct the strategic plan.

1)Collaborates with physicians and staff to improve processes.

2)Provides input on opportunities and implements strategies to improve clinical outcomes.

3)Indentifies internal and external customer needs and collaborates with the health care team to ensure provision of services to meet those needs.

4)Assist in orientation process for the new staff members in surgical service.

5)Serves as a resource to patients, families and health care provider.

Ensure a safe environment for patients and staff.

1)Collaborates with clinical manager to ensure that daily practices meet requirements of regulatory bodies such as Accrediting Organization, IDPH, OSHA, AORN and Infection Control as well as HIPAA

2)Monitors department operations to assure safety procedures are followed for patient, visitor and staff safety.
