Granger Medical Clinicis hiring a Surgery Scheduler for our American Fork Urology Clinic.The Surgery Scheduler is responsible for coordinating and scheduling patient appointments for surgeries, diagnostic tests, referrals, pre-operative evaluations, and urological procedures. This role requires the application of clinical knowledge to ensure accurate scheduling in accordance with provider orders and patient needs.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Coordinate and schedule office- and hospital-based procedures and surgeries, including completion of required facility documentation.
- Arrange diagnostic and imaging appointments; obtain and document informed consent for procedures and surgeries.
- Communicate with vendors to ensure necessary equipment and supplies are available for scheduled procedures.
- Review patient medications and medical history to determine pre-admission testing requirements; document pertinent notes and special instructions.
- Coordinate and obtain required medical and urological clearances.
- Verify patient insurance coverage and secure prior authorizations as needed.
- Schedule follow-up appointments and additional testing as required.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Essential Functions and Duties:
- Proficiency in Electronic Medical Records (EMR) systems and Microsoft Office applications.
- Strong computer skills: healthcare software experience preferred.
- Working knowledge of surgical procedures and medical terminology preferred.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Demonstrates professionalism, tact, diplomacy, and a positive attitude.
- Ability to travel to nearby urology offices as needed.
Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent required; 1–3 years of experience in a healthcare setting preferred, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Prior surgery scheduling or medical office scheduling experience required.
- Demonstrated ability to multitask, problem-solve, and provide exceptional customer service.
- Familiarity with EMR systems required.
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:
- Ability to lift up to 10 lbs.
- Frequent repetitive motion, including extended computer use.
- Work performed in a climate-controlled indoor environment.
