Job Summary
The Special Imaging Supervisor helps the Management team supervise, plan, organize, and improve work processes in Radiology services. This includes CT, MRI, US, IR, or Nuclear Medicine as directed by the Director or Radiologist. The supervisor performs department orientation, teaches, coaches, supervises staff, and conducts imaging exams in their supervised modalities. They ensure the organization's vision, mission, values, and goals are followed. They recommend and help develop policies and procedures to comply with regulations and Baylor Scott & White Health philosophy. They act as a department liaison when the manager is absent.
Essential Functions of the Role
- Oversees the delivery and quality of imaging services. Ensures timely, accurate, and cost-efficient exams and patient preparation. Complies with System and regulatory standards, policies, and procedures. Performs procedures as needed due to workload or complexity.
- Ensures adequate staffing, supplies, and resources for exams and clinical services. Schedules, monitors, evaluates, and modifies staffing patterns to provide services in assigned areas.
- Interviews, counsels, and completes performance evaluations. Trains new staff and ensures all registrations and certifications are current. Keeps them on file and up to date. Partners with the management team and staff. Conducts multidisciplinary staff meetings to ensure consistent and timely communication throughout the department.
- Facilitates goal setting for staff in imaging sections. Monitors goals and achievements. Ensures goals are reflected in annual performance evaluations. Encourages participation in Employee Satisfaction Surveys and Patient Safety surveys. Provides service feedback results to staff. Initiates a plan of action for improvement.
- Partners with Management to develop a department budget. Provides feedback on new and replacement equipment and services needed for growth. Monitors operational budgets and implements corrective action plans for negative productivity and expense variances.
- Promotes a culture of service excellence in imaging by partnering with management. Communicates service excellence, patient-centeredness expectations, and customer satisfaction survey results. Holds self and staff accountable for service excellence. Facilitates reward and recognition in the imaging sections of Radiology.
- Acts as a Radiology liaison to other departments. Develops cooperative relationships with physicians and medical departments to exchange information. Implements solutions to problems. Assists in developing, reviewing, and revising policies and procedures. Submits and implements goals that help Department and System goals.
- Assists in ensuring the imaging sections comply with JCAHO, TDH standards, and other accrediting bodies.
- Identify patient service needs using AIDET when talking to patients. Ensure the correct exam is performed on the correct patient. Establish personal rapport with potential and actual patients and others who know about the service needs.
- Coordinates and runs groups on patient safety, customer service, and performance improvement. Focuses on the environment of care, employee engagement, and physician engagement. Also works on quality improvement and inter-departmental relations. Participates in mutual governance, department, hospital, or professional organizations and committees. This includes LEAN initiatives, 5S projects, and inter-departmental committees. Involves any professional organization participation and QC assurance with radiologists.

- Able to train, and evaluate performance of supervised staff.
- General computer skills include Microsoft Office, information security, scheduling and payroll systems, electronic medical documentation, and email.
- Able to take call, if required.

QUALIFICATIONS
- EXPERIENCE - 3 Years of Experience
CERTIFICATION/LICENSE/REGISTRATION
- Medical Radiologic Tech (MRT): MRT from Texas Medical Board required.
- ARRT-Bone Density (ARRT-BD), ARRT-CT Computed Tomography (ARRT-CT), ARRT-M Mammography (ARRT-M), ARRT-R Radiography (ARRT-R), ARRT-VI Interventional Rad (ARRT-VI), Cert Nuclear Med Tech (CNMT): Must have one of the following: ARRT-BD, ARRT-CT, ARRT-M, ARRT-R, ARRT-VI, or CNMT. Certified by ARRT or ARDMS.
