A private equity backed manufacturing business focused on metals and engineered components is seeking a Procurement & Supply Chain Manager to lead procurement and supply chain operations during a critical period of growth and transition.
The company supports customer driven production environments spanning prototype builds, new product introduction, and full scale production. Operations require strong coordination across supply chain, engineering, manufacturing, and customer demand planning.
Situation / Need
The organization is seeking a dedicated leader following the recent departure of the current Procurement & Supply Chain Manager. This is a high priority hire needed to stabilize operations, improve supplier performance, and build a scalable supply chain infrastructure capable of supporting growth initiatives.
The business requires immediate leadership across sourcing, materials planning, supplier accountability, and cross functional execution.
Role Overview
The Procurement & Supply Chain Manager will own the end-to-end procurement and supply chain function, balancing immediate operational execution with longer term process improvement.
This individual will lead supplier strategy, ensure material readiness across all production stages, and partner closely with operations leadership to improve continuity, cost structure, and delivery performance.
Mandate / Key Responsibilities
Run the Business
• Lead procurement, sourcing, and supply chain execution across multiple sites
• Ensure material availability for prototype, NPI, and production ramp activity
• Manage supplier delivery, quality, lead times, and responsiveness
• Provide visibility into shortages, constraints, and recovery plans
• Oversee buyers, planners, and materials processes as needed
• Support daily production continuity through effective planning and supplier coordination
Build & Improve
• Develop and implement sourcing strategies aligned with growth objectives
• Expand, qualify, and strengthen the supplier base for metals and engineered components
• Negotiate pricing, contracts, and commercial terms
• Build supplier scorecards and KPI dashboards
• Improve inventory planning and supply continuity processes
• Drive continuous improvement across procurement and supply chain operations
• Strengthen alignment across operations, engineering, quality, and finance teams
Required Experience
• 7+ years of procurement or supply chain leadership experience within manufacturing
• Strong supplier sourcing, development, and performance management background
• Experience supporting new product introduction and production ramp environments
• Experience in metals manufacturing including fabrication, machining, welding, or assemblies preferred
• Strong negotiation and contract management skills
• ERP / MRP systems experience with data driven decision making
• Proven ability to lead cross functional initiatives and influence stakeholders
• Ability to operate in both strategic and hands on environments
Preferred Experience
• Experience in customer driven or contract manufacturing environments
• Background in private equity backed businesses
• APICS, CPSM, or related certifications
• SYSPRO experience is a plus
• Multisite manufacturing experience
Onsite Expectations
This role requires a meaningful onsite presence in Minneapolis, Minnesota as needed. The environment includes both office and manufacturing floor engagement.
Compensation
Wide range of factors are considered in making compensation decisions. Exact compensation may vary based on factors including skills, experience, certification, license and location. A reasonable estimate of current compensation range is $70-$115/hr
