Supplier Quality Engineer (SQE)

Purpose:
The SQE serves as the bridge between Diamond C and its external suppliers to ensure that provided materials, parts and services meet regulatory, customer, and engineering standards. This role drives improvements in supplier performance through sustained assessments of and continuous communication with critical suppliers.. The SQE supports strategic objectives by leading supplier assessments, risk-based evaluations, and continuous improvement initiatives, while maintaining strong relationships with internal teams and external partners.
Shift and Schedule: MON -FRI 7:30AM-4:30PM
This position will require periodic travel (some overnight). This travel may require both driving and/or flying.
Responsibilities:
- Support efforts to implement and maintain an ISO-9001 compliant Quality Management System across the organization.
- Lead and participate in problem solving events focused on root cause analysis activities to drive safety, quality, cost, and efficiency improvements.
- Maintain a supplier control and performance program which includes onsite assessments of targeted suppliers. - may require overnight travel.
- Coordinate with Purchasing and Receiving Inspection regarding FAIs and supplier quality performance.
- Approve quality plans, inspection routines, PPAP and FAI documentation before parts are released to production.
- Collaborate with receiving and production teams to establish incoming inspection requirements on purchased components while ensuring these requirements are met and documented..
- Support implementation and maintenance of a supplier scoring system that drives objective improvements in supplier performance.
- Support supplier selection, qualification and continuous assessment processes.
- Work directly with suppliers to optimize their manufacturing capabilities, streamline production, and reduce risks.
- Support efforts to implement document control systems which apply across the organization.
- Participate as an auditor within the DC internal audit program in applicable facilities.
- When required, monitor and document the statistical outcome of supplier related processes.
- Identify and participate in cost reduction initiatives.
- Manage and effectively execute on projects as assigned by senior leadership.
- Will be expected to work autonomously with minimal direct supervision.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Quality or Supply Chain Management. Previous experience in a supplier quality role will be considered.
- 2+ years of previous experience in Quality Assurance and/or control environment (required).
- 2+ years of previous experience in a Supplier Quality role (preferred).
- Experience working within environments governed by industry specific QMS Certifications. (ISO / IATF preferred).
- Experience within production environments, preferably in the heavy fabrication or automotive industry.
- Working knowledge of statistical process control (SPC) including tools and application.
- ASQ Certified Quality Engineer Certification (highly desired).
- ASQ Supplier Quality Professional Certification (highly desired).
- Auditor certification to ISO-9001, IATF16949, or AS9100 (preferred).
- Lean/Six Sigma certification.
- High proficiency in computer technology and systems operations.
- Project Management Skills.
- Able to work on the shop floor working directly with the coating and/or fabrication teams.
- Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and Google Suite applications.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Able to work efficiently in a team environment.
- Able to travel by car or plane on short notice with the possibility of out-of-town stays.
