Summary:

The Supplier Quality Engineer is a part of the Quality team and reports to the Supplier Quality Manager. The Supplier Quality Engineer must comply with supplier quality standards to meet all product and process requirements and manage and report supplier performance. The Engineer will be responsible for quality checks and on-going process audits for suppliers. This role is also responsible for detection, containment, root cause analysis and resolving all supplier related issues. The Supplier Quality Engineer will manage the continuous performance improvement and optimization of all suppliers of components and services, as well as provide coaching and mentoring of the utilization of lean manufacturing problem-solving methodologies.


Additionally, the Supplier Quality Engineer is responsible for addressing module-related issues at suppliers and managing module/SBB products.


ESSENTIAL ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:


  • Establish KPI activities and conduct on-going process monitoring; prepare updates of performance results for management
  • Investigate customer complaints and non-conformance issues, then lead improvement of supplier performance
  • Review supplier production process, inspection standards, and lessons learned activities
  • Document internal audits and other quality activities
  • Support the resolution of module issues identified at suppliers and assist in the work-in-process (WIP) management of module and SBB products
  • Perform other position related duties as assigned

Preferred Qualifications


  • Experience in manufacturing or process quality management
  • Knowledge of quality systems (ISO, QMS)
  • Strong problem-solving and root cause analysis skills
  • Experience with quality audits and supplier quality management

REQUIREMENTS:


  • Bachelor’s degree in an engineering field preferred, with understanding of advanced quality engineering practices, principles, and processes, or over 5years of relevant experience
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in quality engineering, project/program management or equivalent
  • A thorough knowledge of quality tools and techniques
  • Must be broadly familiar with manufacturing technologies, products, suppliers and programs

QUALITY ASSURANCE REQUIREMENTS:


  • Comply with requirements of the Quality Operating System (QOS) in accordance with ISO 9001:2015
  • Identify concerns and initiate corrective actions (through verification) relating to product, process and quality systems
  • Initiate preventative and continuous improvement actions relating to product, process and quality systems


HEALTH & SAFETY REQUIREMENTS:


  • Follow safe work procedures established by the Company; and follow the OH&S directions of the head of your department or supervisor
  • Use of appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) and safety systems
  • Where PPE is required to control exposure to hazards in the workplace, wear and maintain the PPE as directed, as indicated in a risk assessment, or as required in OH&S procedures
  • Use other safety and emergency equipment provided in the workplace as directed or as required in OH&S procedures
  • Assist with the preparation of risk assessments
  • Before commencing work or research, a risk assessment should be conducted to identify, assess and control the hazards associated with the work or research. This should be conducted in conjunction with other relevant staff, researchers and the supervisor
  • Report OH&S problems
  • Report workplace hazards to the supervisor as soon as possible after they occur
  • Report injury or illness arising from workplace activities using the incident/injury reporting system as soon as possible after the incident
  • Lead incident investigations and implement corrective actions
  • Complete monthly OH&S inspections
