  • The Supervisory Transportation Program Specialist: Serves as Director, Office of Financial Management and Program Oversight in a regional office with responsibility for directing planning, program development, oversight, and administration activities relating to grantee performance and the monitoring of contractors assigned to the performance of available oversight audits and reviews in collaboration with DOT Headquarters Staff. Delegated Authority for coordinating with Senior State and Transit officials prior to and after disasters. Gathers and evaluate damage cost estimates from State and transit officials. Represents FTA, both regionally and nationally, for experience administering emergency relief supplemental appropriations. Ensures that staff reserves and records commitments of and certify funds in coordination with the appropriate Headquarters office. Coordinates FTA responses to audits of Regional Office activities by the OIG, GAO and other outside audit agencies, and ensures that necessary actions are taken by the Regional Office and the grantees. The Ideal Candidate for this position is a senior-level professional with strong leadership skills, who has managed diverse staff, fostering teamwork, collaboration, and accountability; and has transportation industry experience in developing and managing complex, high-priority programs.

BACKGROUND INVESTIGATION: A background security investigation is required for all selected individuals. Appointment will be subject to the applicant's successful completion of the security investigation and favorable adjudication. Failure to meet these requirements will be grounds for termination. PROBATIONARY PERIOD: Applicants may be required to successfully complete a one-year probationary period (unless already completed). SUPERVISORY PROBATIONARY PERIOD: New supervisors must complete a 1-year probationary period (unless already completed).
