  • 30 Day Hiring Model The Department of Veterans Affairs is implementing a streamlined 30-Day Hiring Model designed to accelerate hiring while maintaining the highest standards of merit-based selection. This improved process reduces traditional hiring timelines by integrating early coordination, faster assessments, and efficient pre-employment actions. Applicants can expect a more transparent, predictable, and efficient hiring journey from announcement to entry on duty. What Applicants Can Expect Expedited Candidate Review Once the announcement closes, Human Resources will quickly review applications, issue certificates of eligible candidates the day after the announcement closes and refer applicants for hiring manager consideration. Quick Interviews & References HR may arrange interviews and will request references within 3-5 days after being referred to the hiring manager. Streamlined Pre-Employment Requirements: Following a tentative offer, applicants should be prepared to complete required steps, such as fingerprinting and background check, credentialing, and medical examination within 3 days of the offer. Clear and Timely Communication: Applicants will receive clear communication at key milestones, including referral, tentative offer, and onboarding instructions. After meeting pre-employment requirements, candidates will receive a final job offer and start date. Onboarding tasks may continue after starting, with HR ensuring timely completion for a smooth transition into VA service. If selected, applicants should be prepared to come onboard within 30 days of the announcement closing. Duties may include, but are not limited to : Supervises a group of employees performing work at various GS levels up to their own grade and provides administrative, technical, and clinical supervision necessary for accomplishing the work of the unit. Establishes guidelines and performance expectations for staff, clearly communicated through the formal employee performance management system. Observes workers' performance; demonstrate and conduct work performance critiques; Provide informal feedback and periodically evaluates employee performance. Works to resolves informal complaints and grievances. Develops work improvement plans, recommending personnel actions as necessary. Effects disciplinary measures as appropriate to the authority delegated in this area. Provides advice and counsel to workers related to work and administrative matters. Reviews and approves or disapproves leave requests. Assures that subordinates are trained and fully comply with the provisions of the safety regulations Administratively responsible for a clinical program providing treatment to Veterans in a major specialty area. Oversees daily operation of the program, developing policies and procedures for program operation, and prepare reports and statistics for facility, VISN and national use. Responsible for developing and monitoring staff compliance with practice, standards and guidelines on documentation, workload, data entry, ethical practice and service delivery. Provides analysis and evaluation of clinical program data to identify system-wide trends and needs to enhance the quality of service. Administratively responsible for clinical programming. Provides leadership, direction, orientation, coaching, in-service training, staff development and continuing education programs for assigned staff. Initiates and conducts a variety of program or service audits and reports, including productivity assessments. Oversees program operations and evaluations, identifying areas for improvement, gathering relevant data, assessing the data, developing and implementing ideas for improvement and evaluating efficacy of improvement efforts. Develops, implements, evaluates and reports on program performance; including assigned measures, monitors, data and other metrics of interest. Provides direct care services as needed. Provides independent and expert clinical psychosocial and case management services in a specialized area of practice to Veterans who tend to have serious and severe crises, may lack any familial and community support, may be poor self-monitors, may frequently fail to comply with instructions or treatment, or may have major deficits in coping skills and require continuing professional psychological support. Performs a wide range of services and provides technical assistance to State, local, and private agencies, and universities. Performs program analysis, development, review, research, design, and contact work as possible with various agencies (public, DOD, state, etc.).
