MajorDuties

  • Develops plans and schedules for subordinate supervisors for the accomplishment of assigned missions.
  • Establishes workflow based on priorities to provide productive and timely accomplishment of work, monitors work status and progress of work taking into consideration of employee capabilities, and makes assignment adjustments as required.
  • Initiates formal requests for filling vacancies for additional personnel to meet work requirements.
  • Develops and communicates performance plans, evaluates performance, and counsels subordinate supervisors serving as the reviewing official on evaluations of non-supervisory employees rated by subordinate supervisors.
  • Receives complaints and grievances, effecting minor disciplinary measures such as warnings or reprimands, and recommends other action in more serious cases.
  • Performs near-term and long-range planning and analysis regarding logistics and equipment required to ensure the Division is capable of meeting mission objectives and taskings.
  • Develops lifecycle replacement and maintenance activity plans for all equipment assigned to the Division based on usage ensuring equipment is replaced, upgraded or serviced within appropriate timeframes.
  • Analyzes new directives issued by higher headquarters which impact law enforcement programs to determine necessary equipment required to meet program objectives; developing and overseeing the implementation of equipment usage policies.
  • Provides advice and guidance to the Chief of Police and Director of Emergency Services on equipment planning and policy issues, developing and recommending solutions to problems and offering strategies to incorporate into Division business practices.
  • Monitors and analyzes crime and incident statistics to determine trends developing recommendations for the Deputy Chief of Police on deployment of police assets assigned to the Support Branch.
  • Participates in investigations of violations of SOP by department personnel and recommends action to the supervisor.
  • Ensures life cycle replacement of critical law enforcement equipment and provides Schedule 75 QLPR data for budgetary planning and execution
  • Oversees the distribution of police reports and ensures distribution is controlled and conducted within legal and regulatory constraints.
  • Oversees and ensures requests for police-related correspondence which assist in taking administrative or legal action are answered and provided in a timely manner.
  • As a member of QRF, the employee is required to be trained in National Incident Management System (NIMS).
  • Perform duties in the capacity of a certified/qualified police officer and supervisor.
