Ensures that limited gaming is conducted honestly, fairly, and competitively, and is free from criminal and corrupt elements.
What we do:
Supervises and assists staff in complex financial and background investigations for Sports Betting license applicants.
Analyzes detailed financial reports for accuracy and thoroughness before they are presented to the Director or Commission.
Thorough understanding of business structures and requirements for private and
public companies.
Evaluates the suitability of individual owners and management by investigating their personal, financial, and criminal histories.
Makes licensing recommendations of applicants to the Agent in Charge which is
presented to the Limited Gaming Control Commission.
Assigns and oversees criminal investigations into violations of the Sports Betting Act and other local, state, or federal laws.
Reviews investigations to identify potential violations of criminal statutes.
Oversees investigations involving complex investigations such hidden ownerships, money laundering, and illegal fund distribution.
Makes a recommendation to the Agent in Charge when criminal charges or administrative disciplinary actions are warranted based on the severity of the violation.
Mentors and trains staff in investigative techniques, auditing principles, and rules of evidence.
Coordinates complex domestic and international investigations to identify assets, sources of investment funds, and potential fraud.
Conducts digital inspections of financial records and interviews business associates.
Prepares and presents comprehensive written findings to the Colorado Limited Gaming Control Commission.
Ensures all licensing reports and commission agendas are accurate, complete, and free from error.
Maintains tracking records for licensed companies and applicants to ensure all renewal and reissuance deadlines are met.

A2A6XX CRIMINAL INVESTIGATOR VTen (10) years of relevant experience infull-time professional investigative experience; one (1) year of the experience must demonstrate performing duties as a work leader, unit supervisor, or equivalent.

*Required valid/active Colorado P.O.S.T. Certification (Peace Officer Standards & Training) certification that is active in good standing, and free of any restrictions, suspensions, or revocations at the time of application.
OR
Education and Experience:A combination of related education inbusiness administration, public administration, criminology, criminal justice, criminalistics, political science, police science, law enforcement, law, psychology, sociologyor a closely related field and/or relevant experiencefull-time professional investigative experience, one (1) year of the experience must demonstrate performing duties as a work leader, unit supervisor, or equivalent, equal to ten (10) years.
*Required valid/active Colorado P.O.S.T. Certification (Peace Officer Standards & Training) certification that is active in good standing, and free of any restrictions, suspensions, or revocationsat the time of application.
Knowledge of Colorado rules and regulations related to Division of Gaming.
Outstanding candidates will have extensive experience leading or managing complex criminal and regulatory investigations.
Proven ability to develop and implement investigative strategies, policies, and procedures to support regulatory and enforcement goals.
Experience supervising investigation teams, setting performance standards, and ensuring compliance with legal and ethical guidelines.
Demonstrates ability to work independently and focus on primary duties in a
hybrid work environment.
Exceptional interpersonal and team working skills.
Takes the initiative to act on and follow through on work activities.
Familiarity with administrative hearings, regulatory compliance frameworks, and civil and criminal enforcement actions.
Demonstrated knowledge of relevant state laws and administrative regulations and enforcement procedures.
Intermediate to advanced skills on Microsoft Excel and related Microsoft Office tools,
or Google Suite related products.
Experience preparing investigative reports, affidavits, and legal documentations for search and arrest warrants, and providing testimony in administrative and criminal proceedings.
Excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to present findings clearly to senior leadership, regulatory bodies, and law enforcement partners.
Experienced in evaluating enforcement systems and recommending improvements to enhance regulatory effectiveness.
Experience in financial investigations, accounting principles, finance-asset tracing, and analysis of complex financial structures.
