Supervisor - Utility Plant

Responsible for the operation and maintenance of thermal energy plants and all utility distribution systems.

Schedule: Shift work - mostly day shift, but must be available to come in as needed. 

1. Ability to work extended hours and respond to plant operational needs during inclement weather events and emergency conditions.

2. Coordinate and schedule personnel, contractors, and support shops for repairs, shutdowns, and operational activities across the utility plants.

3. Possess a working understanding of Building Automation Systems (BAS), system topology, and automation software utilized in plant operations.

4. Demonstrate the ability to trace, identify, and troubleshoot electrical and hydronic piping systems throughout plant operations.

5. Effectively restore and stabilize plant operations following unexpected events, equipment failures, or utility disruptions.

6. Develop and implement procedures, pathways, and process improvements to improve efficiency and completion of preventive maintenance activities.

7. Maintain a working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and related software used for operational tracking, reporting, and documentation.

8. Assist with development and enforcement of plant operational standards, policies, and procedures.

9. Participate in employee performance discussions, coaching, and accountability related to plant operations and attendance expectations.

10. Coordinate operational communication between utility plants, Facilities Management, hospital departments, and outside agencies during planned and unplanned events.

11. Assist with review of operational reports, logs, work orders, and plant documentation to ensure accuracy and completion.

12. Support budget planning and operational forecasting related to plant maintenance, repairs, and utility system needs.

13. Participate in planning and execution of departmental and campus utility infrastructure projects impacting plant operations.

14. Assist with maintaining regulatory compliance documentation and support inspections related to plant operations and utility systems.

15. Evaluate plant operational trends and recommend improvements to increase system reliability, efficiency, and operational performance.

16. Assist with staffing coordination and operational coverage planning to maintain continuous utility plant operations.

17. Performs other duties as assigned.

  • Ten (10) years experience in the maintenance, operation and repair of utility equipment, or eight (8) years experience working in a comparable Health Thermal Energy Plant environment, and three (3) years experience in a lead capacity.
