Summary

The RN Supervisor – Transport provides clinical and operational leadership to the Pediatric/NICU Transport teams within McLane Children’s Hospital. This role supports safe, efficient, and high‑quality transport services for critically ill neonatal and pediatric patients while fostering a strong culture of teamwork, clinical excellence, and professional development.

The Supervisor functions as a working leader—supporting staff, coordinating operations, and stepping into clinical shifts when needed to maintain staffing and service continuity.

Department Overview

The Transport department consists of three teams totaling 35 staff:

• Unit-Based Team: 16 employees
• Primary Team: 11 employees
• Round Rock Team: 8 employees

These teams support neonatal and pediatric patient transports within the McLane Children’s service area.

Must-Have Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of Critical Care experience (NICU or PICU required).
• Previous transport experience (pediatric or neonatal).
• Active RN license; BLS and relevant specialty certifications as required by policy.

Nice-to-Have Qualifications

• 1+ years dedicated transport experience.
• Prior leadership or charge nurse experience.
• Experience in both NICU and PICU transport settings.

Your role as Nursing Supervisor involves supervising healthcare professionals and ensuring high patient care levels. Maintain a safe environment and nurture nursing practice to improve patient outcomes. Oversee operations, productivity, and resource distribution to meet department priorities.

• Working closely with members from different professional fields to ensure coordinated patient care.
• Assessing how effective the nursing practices are and infusing practices and research discoveries that are evidence-based.

QUALIFICATIONS

• EDUCATION - Associate's Degree
• MAJOR - Nursing
• EXPERIENCE - (2) Two Years of Experience
• CERTIFICATION/LICENSE/REGISTRATION -Registered Nurse (RN)
• Basic Life Support (BLS) or obtain within 30 days of hire or transfer.
