Responsibilities
Supervises and coordinates the daily activities of pharmacists and technicians in pharmaceutical care responsibilities.
Responsible for day-to-day functionality of pharmacy automation (robotics and other technologies) and formaintainingpharmacy operations during any planned or unplanned downtime.
Provides operational support for day-to-day aspects of inventory management (Example – drug shortages, recalls, etc.).
Keepsabreast of the latest professional and technical developments affecting pharmacy practice andmakesrecommendations for change to the department managers as needed.
Assistswith departmentalmedication safety initiatives as well as various hospital wide quality improvement projects as needed.
Ensuresappropriate dailystaffing to meet workload demands.
Provides andassistsin annual appraisals for pharmacists and technicians.
Assistsin the development of policies and procedures involving direct patient care.
Participates in recruiting andselectionof staff, as needed.
Responds to disaster calls.
Evaluates staff compliance with department policy.
Ensurescompliance with all regulatory practice standards.
Serve as a liaison between pharmacy,nursingand the medical staff.
Together with the director of pharmacy and department managers,workstowards improvement in employee satisfaction,recruitmentand retention of staff.
Performs all functions of a practicing pharmacist.This includes dispensing orders for medications, monitoring patient drug therapy, and providing drug information.
Provides operational on-call coverage on a rotating basis.
Performs other duties as assigned.
