The Probation Department is recruiting forSupervising Probation Officerswho perform a wide variety of departmental supervisory duties includingorganize, assign, review and evaluate work performed by Probation Officers and assigned staff. Incumbentsconduct orientation or in-service training; explain and interpret departmental policies and procedures; assess staff development needs and confer with Division Directors regarding assignment of personnel, workload, employee performance and unit problems.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT

Availability:May be assigned to institutions or special programs and may be assigned shift or variable work, including weekend and holiday hours.

Peace Officer Status:Have peace officer status and must be willing to complete the department's arming training and accept an armed position.

Background:Must meet peace officer requirements (P.C. 832) and pass an extensive background investigation.

Travel:A valid California Class C Driver License is required to carry out the essential job-related functions of this position. Proof of automobile liability insurance must be maintained.

Sponsorship:San Bernardino County is not able to consider candidates who will require visa sponsorship at the time of application or in the future.

EXPERIENCE: Two (2) years of experience as a Probation Officer III.

The ideal candidate will possess a diverse experience as a probation officer with a current Peace Officer status to include experience in juvenile, adult, and administrative assignments, leadership skills, and the ability to work as a member of a team, who demonstrates excellent oral and written communication skills. Must be willing to accept an armed position.
