This Supervising Engineer position is within Wastewater Engineering Division’s QA/QC Group, which supports the delivery of all of Metropolitan Sewer District (MSD) capital projects. Specifically, this role leads the Internal Design group in the preparation of drawings and specifications for a suite of conveyance and facility projects that MSD decides is most cost-effectively designed in-house. This person will coordinate the work of staff, both directly assigned and matrixed from across the division, that are responsible for the preparation of these contract documents. This employee directly monitors work activities to ensure work quality and reviews work products to ensure adherence and compliance with established policies and procedures prior to being sent out to bid. In addition, this role provides complex professional assistance to the Principal Engineer in the execution of all their QA/QC duties, including making recommendations for improvements to specific projects as well implementing best practices across all projects, and the development and maintenance of MSD Engineering Standards. This Supervising Engineer represents the QA/QC Group in the Principal Engineer’s absence.
This employee supervises, assigns, reviews, and participates in the work of staff responsible for professional and technical engineering operations. Employee ensures work quality and adherence to established policies and procedures and performs the more technical and complex tasks relative to assigned area of responsibility. Knowledge of:
Modern complex principles and practices of engineering as related to assigned area of responsibility.
Design techniques, tools, and principals involved in production of and use of precision technical plans, blueprints, drawings, and models.Skill to:
Skill to operate appropriate computer equipment; use properly all related hardware and Microsoft Skill to office Suite, project management software, ArcGIS, AutoCAD with Civil 3D, and analytic or scientific software.

Open:Each applicant must have a Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a closely related field. In addition, each applicant must have five years of experience in project management, or project design for transportation/site development projects, construction projects, or similar disciplines.
Promotional:Each applicant must have three years of experience as a Senior Engineer with the City of Cincinnati and must possess a Bachelor's Degree in engineering from an accredited college or university.
OTHER REQUIREMENTS:Must have a valid Driver's License. Must be an excellent communicator and team builder. Possession of registration with the State of Ohio as a Professional Engineer. If not registered in Ohio when appointed, Ohio registration must be obtained during probationary period.
MILITARY EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE EVALUATION:Military education and experience may be substituted for college level course work at the lower and upper division baccalaureate and graduate levels and apprenticeship training at the vocational certificate level on a case by case basis based on the American Council on Education (ACE) Military Guide recommendations.
