Superintendent

A geographically expanding heavy civil contractor based in Sarasota, Florida is seeking an experienced Superintendent to oversee field operations across multiple construction projects. They are looking for someone who is well versed in underground utilities and piping, with experience of management.

This role is ideal for a field leader who thrives in a fast-paced environment, can coordinate crews and subcontractors effectively, and is committed to delivering projects safely, on schedule, and within budget.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage and oversee daily field operations on heavy civil construction projects including underground utilities, sitework, roadway construction, and infrastructure development.
• Coordinate project activities with project managers, subcontractors, vendors, inspectors, and internal crews to maintain efficient workflow and meet project milestones.
• Develop and maintain short-term and long-term construction schedules to ensure projects stay on track.
• Supervise and direct field crews, equipment operators, and subcontractors to ensure quality workmanship and productivity.
• Ensure all work is performed in accordance with project plans, specifications, and contract requirements.
• Promote and enforce a strong safety culture on all jobsites in coordination with company safety personnel and OSHA regulations.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of experience in construction field supervision, preferably in site development and underground utilities.
• Strong background in underground utilities, storm drain, lift/pump stations and force main systems.
• Proven ability to manage multiple crews and subcontractors on active jobsites.
• Solid understanding of construction drawings, specifications, and scheduling practices.
• Strong knowledge of OSHA safety standards and jobsite safety practices.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively with project managers and company leadership to meet project goals.
• Proficiency with daily reporting and construction management software is a plus.
