Summer Youth Program - Parttime (Facilities)

This position is temporary and not guaranteed beyond the funding provided through the Alabama Department of Human Resources Summer Youth Employment Project. This position allows employees the opportunity to acquire life and job skills, as well as work experience while being reimbursed. This is also an opportunity for learning and growth in the skill gap areas that Alabama employers have deemed an urgent need in the labor force. Work is performed under the close supervision of skilled craft personnel in accordance with the Facilities' departmental rules and regulations.

Salary Schedule: L (Up to 19 hours per week)
  1. Assist in performing housekeeping and grounds duties;keeps buildings in clean and orderly condition.
  2. Assist in providing classroom setup in preparation for opening in the Fall.
  3. Provide assistance in the areas of carpentry and cabinetmaking.
  4. Assist in providing routine manual labor work in the receipt, storage, issuance, delivery, and pick up of supplies, equipment, and other property items at various locations.
  5. Assist with receiving and checking a variety of supplies, equipment items, and materials according to pre-established routines and methods; fills orders for supplies and equipment and maintain records of inventoried material.
  6. Assist with moving furniture and equipment and loading and unloading supplies.
  7. Attend training and professional development workshops and conferences in all related areas.
  8. Cross-train in other positions within the Facilities Division.
  9. Facilitate and participate in campus activities supporting college events as assigned, including but not limited to meeting setup and preparation, pick-up and delivery of materials, campus tours, and registration.
  10. .Perform duties as assigned by the Maintenance and Grounds Supervisor and Director of Facilities.
  1. Eligible participants must be aged 16-24.
  2. Must have a household income below 200% of the 2026 Federal Poverty Level Guidelines and other ADHR requirements (Visit www.trenholmstate.edu for additional details).
