Position Summary

Our department managers/supervisors play a critical role in creating and maintaining a safe workplace for our employees by following all ITT safety policies and procedures and by observing employees to ensure that safety procedures are followed.This position requires use of information which is subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR). Essential Responsibilities

  • Learn to safely assist with operating basic machine tools and shop equipment, such as lathes, mills, drill presses, saws, and CNC machines, under close supervision.
  • Support machine setup and operation to help produce parts made from metal and other materials, following instructions from experienced team members.
  • Assist with checking finished parts using measuring tools to make sure they meet basic quality and drawing requirements.
  • Observe and help with simple machine adjustments (such as speed and material feed) as directed by a supervisor or mentor.
  • Help ensure machines and work areas are clean, organized, and operating properly to support quality production
  • Work under direct supervision, with increasing independence as skills and experience grow.
  • Accurately enter daily time or activity information into a tracking system, with guidance as needed.
  • Take responsibility for learning and practicing good quality habits in all assigned tasks.
  • Gain a basic understanding of workplace quality standards (such as ISO 9001) through training and hands-on experience.
  • Follow all safety rules and requirements, including wearing required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and participating in 6S/housekeeping activities and daily cleanup.
  • Perform other learning-focused tasks or projects as assigned by management or supervisors.

Position Requirements

  • Currently enrolled in a High School Machine Tool curriculum
  • Interest in learning machining skills, including assisting with lathes (manual and CNC); experience with mills is helpful but not required.
  • Ability to work well as part of a team and communicate respectfully with supervisors and coworkers.
  • Willingness to learn and flexibility to work assigned shifts, within school and youth labor guidelines.
  • Ability to learn how to read basic blueprints and understand common symbols with training and support.
  • Willingness to learn how to use measuring tools such as micrometers (manual and digital).
  • Ability to learn to read basic comparators for size, angles, and radii under supervision.
  • Basic computer skills and ability to learn company software systems for entering time or activity information.
  • Ability to use basic math skills (fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions) in practical, hands‑on situations.
  • Ability to work under direct supervision, with increasing independence as skills and experience develop.
  • Willingness to follow instructions carefully and practice good quality habits in all assigned tasks.
  • Openness to learning about workplace quality standards (such as ISO 9001) through training and hands‑on experience.
  • Commitment to following all safety rules, including wearing required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and participating in 6S/housekeeping and daily cleanup activities.
  • Willingness to assist with additional learning‑focused tasks or projects as assigned by supervisors or management.

Equal Pay Act Range
