The organization serves as the legisla ted non-pr ofit partner of the Boston Harbor Islands National and State Park and the City's partner for the Boston Harbor walk and Moakle y Park. Curr ent priority projects include the Stone Living Lab, an inno vative and collabor ative initia tive for testing and scaling up nature-based appr oaches to clima te adap tation, coastal resilience, and ecologic al restoration. The Stone Living Lab is a partner ship between Boston Harbor Now, UMass Boston School for the Environmen t, the City of Boston, the National Park Service, the Massachuse tts Departmen t of Conser vation and Recreation, the Massachuse tts Executiv e Office of Ener gy and Environmen tal Affairs, and the James M. and Cathleen D. Stone Founda tion, that engages scien tists and the community in resear ch, educ ation, and the promotion of equity . Reporting to the Lab’s Program Coor dina tor for Education and Engagemen t, this intern will help facilit ate a series of enriching public programs on a weekly basis. Man y duties take place largely outdoor s within the Park and around the mainland waterfront. This is a seasonal position from June through Augus t (13 week s). The work schedule is typic ally Tuesday through Saturday , including occasional evening events. Responsibilities ● Working outdoor s in and around Boston Harbor with a diverse audience of families and community groups, conducting work with professionalism and compassion for everyone encountered, in close collabor ation with both the Senior Manag er for Education and Engagemen t and the Program Coor dina tor for Education and Engagemen t ● Leading family -friendly activities like science experimen ts or arts and crafts ● Working with the communic ation team to promot e program offerings through online calendar s and social media ● Represen ting the Stone Living Lab professionally in interactions with vendor s, partner staff, and the public ● Other duties in the office and in the field as needed such as: ○ Supporting programs with a focus on data collection and analy sis ○ Supporting partner s and providing customer service by connecting via email and phone ○ Resear ching new program ideas and vendor s for 2026 Qualific ations and Experience ● Proficiency in Google Suite, including Gmail, Docs, Shee ts, Drive, and Calendar , to manag e appoin tmen ts, documen t sharing , and digit al collabor ation ● Com fort and experience in facilit ating public programming for all ages ● Problem solving skills and ability to presen t possible solutions to super visor ● High school diploma or GED is preferred but not requir ed. Other creden tials, traditional and nontraditional, and experience consider ed and appr eciated.
