Subsurface Utility Engineering (SUE) Technician
Job Description
As a SUE Technician, you will work primarily in the field as part of a small team responsible for identifying and mapping underground utilities to support the design of new roads, buildings, and infrastructure projects. You will help prevent construction risks caused by incomplete or inaccurate existing utility information and contribute to the development of GIS‑grade maps for municipalities, agencies, and private clients.
All necessary tools, equipment, and a company vehicle are provided. This position requires travel throughout the Southeast, with potential opportunities to support teams in California, Oregon, Texas, Colorado, and Florida. The Utility Services Department values internal growth and offers training for qualified candidates.

Work Environment & Physical Requirements
This is a field‑based position involving outdoor work across a variety of weather and environmental conditions, including wet, humid, hot, cold, dusty, and noisy environments. Work occurs on active construction and project sites and may involve standing or walking for extended periods.
Physical requirements include:
Overtime, weekends, and overnight travel may be required. Additional physical duties may be assigned as needed.
Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of Charlotte, NC.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $20.00 - $30.00/hr.
