Job Summary

The Substitute Teacher ensures continuity of instruction in the absence of the regular teacher while supporting the Catholic mission of the school. This role maintains a structured, respectful, and faith-centered classroom environment that promotes both academic learning and Christian values.

Job Responsibilities
  • Follow and implement lesson plans provided by the regular teacher
  • Maintain a positive, orderly, and faith-filled classroom environment
  • Supervise students in classrooms and during transitions, lunch, recess, and other activities
  • Lead students in daily prayer and uphold Catholic traditions and practices
  • Encourage behavior that reflects Christian values such as respect, responsibility, and compassion
  • Manage classroom behavior in accordance with school policies
  • Adapt instruction as needed to meet student needs
  • Communicate with school administration and staff regarding any issues or concerns
  • Leave notes for the regular teacher regarding completed work and student behavior
  • Ensure the safety and well-being of all students at all times
Job Requirements
  • Previous experience working with children or in a classroom setting preferred
  • Practicing Catholic preferred or willingness to support the mission of Catholic education
  • Strong communication and classroom management skills
  • Ability to be flexible and respond to changing classroom situations
  • Completion of required background check and diocesan safe environment training
