Job Title: Substation Design Engineer
Job Description

Join our dynamic team as a Substation Design Engineer, where you will play a crucial role in conducting engineering studies and performing design calculations for the installation of new and replacement substation equipment. You will be involved in the physical substation engineering design, which includes creating general arrangement, electrical plan and section view drawings, cable and conduit plans, grounding plans, raceway plans, shielding plans, and bus work calculations.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct engineering studies and perform design calculations for substation equipment installation.
  • Perform physical substation engineering design including general arrangement and electrical plan drawings.
  • Create or review foundation and structural designs.
  • Develop bill of materials and evaluate geotechnical analysis information.
  • Design or evaluate site civil plans specific to site grading, access, drainage, soil erosion, and sediment control.
  • Create material lists and takeoffs from engineering designs.
  • Understand, follow, and apply industry standards to engineering designs.
  • Work iteratively to achieve the best design outcome considering cost, project scope, and constructability.
  • Coordinate design activities with other multi-discipline project team members.
  • Manage project documents and records.
Essential Skills
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering
  • Strong understanding of engineering and substation design principles
  • Proficiency in electrical engineering and utility design
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Prior substation engineering experience or utility engineering experience
  • Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification
Work Environment

The position is based in Indianapolis, Indiana, where you will work in the office four days per week with flexibility for remote work on Fridays after training. Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Indianapolis, IN.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $38.46 - $40.87/hr.
