Student - SOE Video Coordinator

The Student Videographer supports the School of Education’s marketing and communications efforts by producing high-quality video content that highlights programs, faculty, students, and community impact. This role captures and edits video storytelling that promotes the School of Education through social media, web, digital campaigns, and recruitment initiatives. The student employee will gain hands-on experience in video production, editing, storytelling, and digital media strategy while helping showcase the impact of educators and future teachers at Utah Valley University.
Video Production & Filming
  • Capture high-quality video footage.
  • Operate cameras, microphones, lighting equipment, and other production tools to produce professional-quality video.
Video Editing & Post-Production
  • Edit footage into compelling video stories for social media, website features, promotional videos, and event recaps. Incorporate graphics, captions, music, and brand elements using video editing software.
Story Development & Interview Filming
  • Work with marketing staff to identify compelling stories featuring students, faculty, alumni, and community partners.
  • Conduct and record interviews that highlight program impact and student success.
Short-Form Video Creation
  • Produce short-form videos optimized for social platforms such as Instagram Reels, TikTok, and YouTube Shorts.
Content Archiving & Asset Management
  • Organize, catalog, and maintain video files, footage, and digital assets for future marketing use.
Equipment Management & Setup
  • Assist with setup, maintenance, and storage of cameras, tripods, microphones, and lighting equipment.
  • Must be a current UVU student.
  • Must provide class schedule at time of application.
  • Preferred major in Marketing, Communications, Digital Media, Public Relations, Education, or related field.
  • Preferred experience managing social media accounts or creating digital content.
  • Portfolio or examples of work preferred.
Knowledge:
  • Basic video production principles, including framing, lighting, and audio capture.
  • Familiarity with digital storytelling and visual communication.
  • Understanding of social media video formats and trends.
  • Awareness of UVU brand guidelines and accessibility considerations.
Skills:
  • Video filming and composition.
  • Video editing using Adobe Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro, or similar software.
  • Storyboarding and visual storytelling.
  • Basic audio and lighting setup.
  • Time management and project organization.
Abilities:
  • Ability to create engaging visual stories that highlight student experiences.
  • Ability to operate cameras and production equipment effectively.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively with marketing staff.
  • Ability to adapt quickly to evolving digital media trends.
