Duties and Responsibilities:

(* Essential Functions)

  1. *Under general supervision of the LCC-WM Coordinator. Coordinate community outreach, recruitment, and enrollment transition activities for prospective and incoming students, including implementation of culturally responsive strategies, Summer Bridge, and other onboarding programs designed to support matriculation and student success.
  2. *Serve as a primary point of contact for prospective and incoming students by providing guidance, follow-up, and navigation support related to college access, enrollment, transition, and connection to campus resources and services.
  3. *Support the development and implementation of recruitment and enrollment strategies for priority student populations and community-based cohorts, informed by student needs, community feedback, and enrollment trends.
  4. *Build and maintain partnerships with schools, counselors, community organizations, and other stakeholders to strengthen access pipelines, student pathways, recruitment efforts, and transition to Leeward Community College.
  5. *Collaborate with faculty, counselors, and staff across the Waianae Moku and Puuloa campuses to align student support services, recruitment efforts, campus programming, and transition efforts.
  6. *Coordinate the MAO Farms internship program that enrolls local youth into LCC and provides necessary academic support services to successfully complete college. This includes partnership implementation, student support, and program evaluation.
  7. *Coordinate Student Life events and engagement activities for the Waianae Moku campus (e.g., event logistics, funding, procurements, marketing, peer mentor supervision) in collaboration with students, faculty, staff and Student Life Coordinator.
  8. *Coordinate Tutor Center and front desk services, including determining staffing needs and hiring, training, scheduling, and supervising student employees such as tutors and front desk receptionists.
  9. *Monitor and maintain records related to outreach, recruitment, transition, and program activities; assist with evaluation, reporting, and continuous improvement efforts.
  10. *Support related administrative processes, including procurement, funding coordination, and other program operations, in accordance with applicable policies and procedures.
  11. Work assignments will include working outside normally scheduled work hours - day, night, weekend, and/or holiday hours as directed to include various off-campus locations.
  12. Other duties as assigned.


Minimum Qualifications:

  1. Possession of a baccalaureate degree in Education, Hawaiian Studies, Secondary Education, Liberal Arts or related field and 3 year(s) of progressively responsible professional experience with responsibilities for student outreach, retention, or program coordination in an educational or community-based setting; or any equivalent combination of education and/or professional work experience which provides the required education, knowledge, skills and abilities as indicated.
  2. Considerable working knowledge of principles, practices and techniques in the field of student outreach, retention, or programming in educational and community-based settings, as demonstrated by the broad knowledge of the full range of pertinent standards and evolving concepts, principles and methodologies.
  3. Considerable working knowledge and understanding of applicable federal and state laws, rules, regulations and theories and systems associated with the administrative processes that support educational programs and community-based initiatives.
  4. Demonstrated ability to resolve wide-ranging complex problems through the use of creative reasoning and logic to accurately determine the cause of the problems and the resolution of the problems in an effective, innovative and timely manner.
  5. Demonstrated ability to interpret and present information and ideas clearly and accurately in writing, verbally and by preparation of reports and other materials.
  6. Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external organizations, groups, team leaders, members, and individuals.
  7. Demonstrated ability to operate a personal computer and apply word processing software, spreadsheets and presentation software.
  8. For supervisory work, demonstrated ability to lead subordinates, manage work priorities and projects, and manage employee relations.
  9. Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively, manage multiple priorities effectively, and maintain accurate records to support program monitoring and evaluation.
  10. Able to travel independently to various geographic locations in a timely manner.
  11. Successful experience working with underserved, underrepresented, or economically disadvantaged youth in educational, community-based, or student-serving settings.


Desirable Qualifications

  1. Knowledge of college access, enrollment, and secondary-to-postsecondary pathways for career, technical, and higher education.
  2. Experience supporting prospective or incoming students for postsecondary education through outreach, recruitment, enrollment, transition, or student success initiatives.
  3. Experience working in a community college.
