This position will support the operations of the University of Hawaii at Manoa School of Nursing and Dental Hygiene (SONDH) 'IKE AO PONO Student Support Program. Position is expected to begin approximately May 2026 or as mutually acceptable. Renewal of appointment is dependent on performance, program needs and/or availability of funds. Duties and Responsibilities:
- ** Develops, implements and evaluates culturally relevant support services for undergraduate and graduate students of Native Hawaiian ancestry and other indigenous groups as it relates to student recruitment, community outreach, engagement initiatives, and other community-building activities that promote cultural enrichment.
- ** Provides `IKE AO PONO (IAP) program information/requirements to undergraduate and graduate students.
- ** Provides support to the supervisor in the administrative operation of facilities, services, and operations related to bridge programs for all incoming students.
- ** Designs and recommends the program evaluation process, facilitates the evaluation and continuously monitor the bridge program participants until graduation.
- ** Provides academic advisement using culturally relevant approaches with undergraduate and graduate students as they navigate the college experience from enrollment through graduation to ensure successful student-centered college experience.
- ** Collects, updates and maintains the student progression records, data on recruitment activities, services and other program documentation for report preparation as it relates to student recruitment, retention and graduation to ensure the Program meets its educational objectives.
- ** Develops, implements and evaluates IAP alumni engagement program, including monitoring of alumni accomplishments.
- ** Works with supervisor to develop and publish an IAP impact report through data collection, analysis and drafting of report presentation.
- ** Designs recruitment materials or advertising flyers for informational and program packets.
- ** Provides support to the IAP Program Director in maintaining a collaborative relationship w/ the UH partnerships via participation in special activities, i.e., meetings, conferences, special events to promote the 'IKE AO PONO Program and/or Nursing & other health professions.
- ** Conducts research on fundraising opportunities (including online platforms) and organizes and coordinates fundraising (small to mid-size fundraising) campaigns and other program funding activities in collaboration with the appropriate SONDH departments and offices, and evaluates project outcomes and its impact on the Program.
- ** Develops relationships with existing and potential community partners; recruits and leads volunteers.
- ** Provides administrative and fiscal support to the Program Director/supervisor in the procurement, personnel administration and travel requirements for the program.
- ** Processes and maintains the documentation for student scholarships and stipends.
- ** Remains compliant with FERPA and HIPAA regulations to protect student, staff, and faculty confidentiality, and keeps abreast with pertinent UH and SONDH policies, procedures and practices, and applicable State and Federal laws.\

Minimum Qualifications: - Possession of a baccalaureate degree in business administration, humanities, education, social sciences, counseling, or related field and 3 year(s) of progressively responsible professional experience with responsibilities for student support, teaching, counseling, tutoring, and/or project management with emphasis with underrepresented populations or groups; or any equivalent combination of education and/or professional work experience which provides the required education, knowledge, skills and abilities as indicated.
- Considerable working knowledge of principles, practices and techniques in the area of student support, counseling, and/or project management as demonstrated by the broad knowledge of the full range of pertinent standard and evolving concepts, principles and methodologies.
- Considerable working knowledge and understanding of applicable federal and state laws, rules, regulations and theories and systems associated with student services, counseling, and/or project management.
- Demonstrated ability to resolve wide ranging complex problems through the use of creative reasoning and logic to accurately determine the cause of the problems and the resolution of the problems in an effective, innovative and timely manner.
- Demonstrated ability to interpret and present information and ideas clearly and accurately in writing, verbally and by preparation of reports and other materials.
- Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external organizations, groups, team leaders and members, and individuals.
- Demonstrated ability to operate a personal computer and apply word processing software.
- If applicable, for supervisory work, demonstrated ability to lead subordinates, manage work priorities and projects, and manage employee relations.
- Work or community service experience with underrepresented or underserved populations and or communities.
- Demonstrated experience in fundraising, sales, or marketing.
- Possession of excellent oral & written skills to be able to generate various project reports & documents & communicate information to various internal & external organizations.
- Organized self-starter who possess the ability to problem solve, with strong attention to detail.
- Demonstrated ability to successfully balance priorities while managing multiple tasks and planning small to mid-size events.
Desirable Qualifications:- Master's degree or higher degree in business administration, humanities, education, social sciences, or counseling.
- Two or more years of experience engaging in community outreach, program development, or advocacy within Native Hawaiian, Pacific Islander, or other indigenous communities.
- Experience in management role such as program manager, office manager, supervisor, etc.
- Experience providing student support services in a university setting.
