Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. **Provides professional administrative, fiscal, and personnel support, technical assistance, and project coordination for the Educational Opportunity Center (EOC) projects in compliance with all University, State, Federal, and other policies and procedural requirements;
  2. **Utilizes the online systems to initiate and process purchases, payments, and verification of goods and services being delivered
  3. **Reviews requests to ensure that the expenditures are proper and reasonable, and that the appropriate supporting documents are available.
  4. **Independently creates and drafts substantive letters, reports, databases, calendars, and documents for program staff;
  5. **Assists with the day-to-day operations and management of the Educational Opportunity Center;
  6. **Assists with programs’ databases containing sensitive participant information
  7. Assists with equipment inventories
  8. **Participates in informational sessions and professional development workshops
  9. **Assists with the preparation and maintenance of fiscal reports and budgets for EOC Programs
  10. **Assists with budget projections and contract management.
  11. **Assists with the maintenance and review, audit, and reconciliation of the purchasing card transactions (if available) and travel arrangements
  12. **Conducts school-based student visits throughout Maui County.
  13. **Provides admission and financial assistance to all Maui County residents who are interested in higher education.
  14. **Awareness of TRIO grant objectives and service criteria.
  15. Other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications:

Education and Professional Work Experience:
  • Possession of a baccalaureate degree and zero years of progressively responsible professional experience; or any equivalent combination of education and/or professional work experience which provides the required education, knowledge, skills, and abilities as indicated.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Functional knowledge of principles, practices, and techniques in the area of Student Affairs demonstrated by knowledge, understanding, and ability to apply concepts and terminology.
  • Functional knowledge and understanding of principles, theories, federal and state laws, rules, regulations, and systems associated with College admissions and financial aid applications
  • Demonstrated ability to recognize problems, identify possible causes, and resolve the full range of problems that may commonly occur in the area of College students and or adults.
  • Demonstrated ability to understand oral and written documentation, write reports and procedures, and communicate effectively in a variety of situations.
  • Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external organizations, groups, team members, and individuals.
  • Demonstrated ability to operate a personal computer and apply word processing software.

  1. The ability to apply knowledge of Native Hawaiian culture to effectively collaborate with multicultural groups and individuals from diverse academic, cultural, and socioeconomic backgrounds.
