Description of Position The Student Services Advisor supports the administ ration of serv ices needed so online students can persist to gradu ation and supports t he director in managing the St udent Services Team. Responsibilities • Counsels adult, graduate, and o nline students on all facets of the program and encourages them to persist to graduation • Assist s students with inquiries or refer them to appropriate office/person • Keep s open ti mely channels of comm unica tion with students concerning policies, procedures, and any changes in schedule • Assist s students on the use of Blaze Net and C anvas • Maintain s student enrollment records and degree completion planning and registration • Work s with faculty to assure that g rades and attendance are reported in a ti mely manner; counsel s students on attendance via phone and process es attendance records • Prepare s new student Orientation and cur rent student infor mation sessions • Produce s and distribute s spreadsheets and reports on new student information, enrollment , and retention • Review s website , catalog, and s tudent handbook regularly for revisions/updates • Develo ps in-depth understanding of Adult, Graduate, and Online Student Services Handbook • Process es Course Withdrawals, Pr ogram Withdrawals, no starts, drops, Program changes, Concurrent Entry approval and other related responsibilities according to Belhaven policy • Develop s in-depth understanding of Student Service procedural manual for Adult, Graduate, and Online Student Services • Participate s in staff meetings and oth er com mittee meetings as needed This announcement covers most of the significant duties performed by the position, but does not include other work, which may be similar, related to, or a logical assignment for the position. Qualifications • The successful candidate must articulate a Chr istian worldview in one’s area of service and must fully support the University Vision, Mission and Statement of Faith. https://www.belhaven.edu/about/mission/ • A bachelor’s degree is required . Master ’s is pre ferred • Preference will be given to candidates who have graduated from or have worked at a Christian co llege or organization. • The candidate must possess both verbal and organizational skills and exude an affable demeanor with the willingness to engage the public and academic communities on behalf of the University. • Experience in college admission, marketing , or counseling is desired but not necessary if the candidate possesses strong communication skills and is task -oriented.
