Student Flourishing Librarian

University Libraries at Belmont University is seeking applications for a non-tenure track faculty position at the rank of Assistant Professor beginning June 1, 2026.
Job responsibilities include coordinating Bunch Library's BELL Core general education initiatives, particularly First Year Seminar and First Year Writing, while leading first-year-focused instruction, outreach, assessment, and stakeholder collaboration. Provides research assistance and workshops and leads outreach initiatives that integrate academic and lifesuccess support, fostering engagement, confidence, and community among new and transfer students. Additional responsibilities include academic advising, scholarly activity, and college and university service. MLS or progress toward a terminal degree is required; teaching experience strongly preferred.

• Foundational knowledge of information literacy concepts, research practices, and ethical use of information in undergraduate and general education contexts.
• Knowledge of instructional design, pedagogy, and assessment principles for effective information literacy instruction.
• Understanding of student development and strategies that support firstyear, transfer, and undeclared students.
• Knowledge of academic library instruction, liaison work, faculty collaboration, and scholarly engagement within a university setting.
• Knowledge of emerging technologies in academic libraries and especially related to library instruction.
• Knowledge of current trends in academic reference service.
• Demonstrated capacity to engage in high quality scholarly activity.
• Demonstrated ability to advise, instruct, manage, motivate and evaluate students.
• Skilled in the use of computers, Internet resources, and MS Office software.
• Ability to learn relevant sections of BannerWeb, Belmont University's online integrated database system for student grading.
• Ability to integrate technology into the teaching and learning process.
• Ability to successfully interact with students, other educators and educational institution representatives, and the general public in a professional manner.
• Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
• Knowledge of the programs and services offered by Belmont University.
• Interest and ability to work collaboratively in course design and integrate instructional technologies to support learning and engagement.
• Ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies.
