Job Title: Structural Welder

Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Structural Welder for a 1st shift role from Monday to Friday, 5:00am to 3:00pm, with the possibility of some Saturday work. D1.1 Cert preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Weld bridge components using FCAW, GMAW/MIG, SAW, and SMAW in accordance with AWS D1.1 standards.
  • Interpret weld symbols, WPSs, and shop drawings accurately.
  • Perform weld prep, grinding, gouging, and cleanup as required.
  • Work safely with overhead cranes, fixtures, and heavy plate assemblies.
  • Maintain compliance with AISC, AWS, and OSHA safety standards.
  • Utilize 90% Flux Core Welding (D1.1) in operations.
  • Read and interpret prepared shop drawings and measurements.
  • Layout, fit, and weld parts per drawings and specifications.
  • Back gouge using air carbon arc equipment.
  • Pre-heat and prepare steel to ensure the highest quality standards.
  • Set up and operate hand and power tools such as magnetic drills, grinders, cutting torches, and automated welding tractors.

Essential Skills

  • Experience in structural steel and metal fabrication.
  • Proficiency in FCAW, SAW, GMAW, and/or GTAW welding processes.
  • Ability to pass a 3G FCAW Weld Test (AWS D1.1 Certification).
  • Strong skills in reading blueprints and using measuring tools.
  • Disciplined, conscientious, and safety-focused mindset.
  • High School Diploma or GED preferred.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Training or certification through a technical or trade school is a plus.
  • Experience in fitting and welding.
  • Systematic and patient approach to factual and technical information.
  • A strong desire to learn the craft of fitting and welding.

This is a Permanent position based out of Reading, PA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $35.00/hr.
