Job Title: Stringer Operator Trainee

Job Description

The Stringer Operator Trainee will learn to operate highly automated stringer equipment that runs conductive string through solar cells and solders them together for assembly into solar panel frames. You will begin by working alongside an experienced operator and gradually take on full responsibility for monitoring the machine, maintaining material supply, and visually inspecting finished strings to ensure high-quality output. Once trained, you are expected to match and ultimately exceed the production performance of the current workforce while maintaining strong attention to detail and pride in your work.

Responsibilities

  • Train alongside an experienced operator to learn the complete operation of the stringer machine and associated processes.
  • Monitor the supply of string or thread feeding the machine and proactively replenish it to prevent interruptions in production.
  • Observe the machine’s automated quality checks displayed on a large monitor and interpret the results accurately.
  • Perform visual inspections of solar cell strings after the machine process to confirm quality and identify any defects.
  • Determine whether finished strings pass quality standards or need to be set aside for repair or rework.
  • Stop the machine every two hours for approximately 30 minutes to perform general cleaning and basic housekeeping of the work area and equipment.
  • Follow all standard operating procedures and work instructions related to machine operation, quality, and safety.
  • Work efficiently to increase production output once fully trained, consistently striving to outpace baseline performance expectations.
  • Handle basic machine operation tasks in a production or manufacturing environment, including start-up, shutdown, and simple adjustments as trained.
  • Collaborate with team members and trainers to resolve minor issues, report equipment concerns, and maintain smooth production flow.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area in accordance with facility and safety guidelines.
  • Demonstrate reliability, initiative, and a strong sense of ownership for product quality and overall performance.

Essential Skills

  • Previous experience in a production or general manufacturing environment.
  • Experience as a machine operator or CNC operator, or operating other computer-controlled machinery.
  • Ability to learn and operate automated stringer equipment in a high-volume production setting.
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to perform consistent visual inspections for quality.
  • Capability to follow detailed instructions, standard operating procedures, and safety guidelines.
  • Demonstrated reliability, strong work ethic, and willingness to take initiative.
  • Ability to work 12-hour shifts on a rotating 3-2-2-3 schedule, including some weekends and either day or night shifts.
  • Clear communication skills and the ability to perform well in an interview setting, showing energy and responsiveness.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Any prior experience operating CNC machines or other computer-controlled production equipment.
  • Experience in machine operation within a highly automated manufacturing environment.
  • Comfort working with large monitors and on-screen quality information.
  • Strong sense of ownership and pride in work, with a genuine desire to produce high-quality products.
  • Ability to adapt to new technology and processes in a growing, modern facility.
  • Willingness to cross-train and take on additional responsibilities as production lines expand.

Why Work Here?

You will join a modern, growing organization that offers a clear path from contract to hire and focuses on building long-term careers. The facility is brand new, with state-of-the-art, highly automated equipment and additional production lines coming online soon, creating significant opportunities for advancement and promotion as the team expands. The rotating schedule provides regular extended weekends and the option to pick up extra shifts for additional hours, supporting both work-life balance and earning potential. You will work in a clean, organized environment that values individuals who care about their work and take pride in contributing to a high-quality, future-focused product.

Work Environment

This role is based in a large, brand-new manufacturing facility dedicated to producing solar components. The environment is very clean due to the sensitivity of solar cells, and in some areas you will wear hair nets and beard nets if you have facial hair, along with closed-toe shoes in all production areas. All equipment and machinery are new and highly automated, providing a modern, technology-driven workplace. The schedule follows a 3-2-2-3 pattern, with one week at approximately 35 hours and the next at approximately 48 hours, including work on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday every other week and a three-day weekend in the alternating week. Day shifts run from 6:00 a.m. to 6:15 p.m., and night shifts run from 6:00 p.m. to 6:15 a.m., with openings available on both day and night shifts.
