Are you a skilled electrician looking to apply your expertise to critical infrastructure? In this advanced trades role, you’ll perform complex maintenance and repairs on County Streetlighting systems—helping ensure safe and reliable operation for the community.

You’ll work on a variety of electrical and mechanical systems, including pumps, motors, generators, bridge controls, gates, and navigational lighting. Your responsibilities will also include repairing and replacing streetlights and load centers, as well as assisting with traffic signal operations when needed.

This role offers variety and responsibility. You may serve as a crew leader on assigned projects, support and mentor team members, and help develop training aids and troubleshooting tools. You’ll operate equipment such as bucket trucks, crane trucks, and forklifts, perform routine equipment maintenance, and complete required reports and documentation.

Participation in an on-call rotation is required, and you’ll be expected to respond to issues as they arise, using your technical expertise and problem-solving skills to keep systems running efficiently. You’ll also provide professional, responsive service when interacting with coworkers and the public.

Education and Experience:
An equivalent combination of relevant training, education and experience:
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Two (2) years of experience in motor control, electrical trade and/or a closely related field

Licenses and/or Certificates:
  • Within 60 days of position assignment:
    • Possess & maintain a valid class “B” CDL with Air Brakes endorsement
  • Within six (6) months of position assignment:
    • Possession of IMOT and Level I Roadway Lighting IMSA certification
  • Within one (1) year of position assignment:
    • Must maintain an IMSA Level II Roadway Lighting Certification
  • Preferred:
    • Professional Electrical Journeyman's License

You have strong knowledge of electrical and electronic principles, particularly as they apply to traffic signal control systems and roadway lighting. You’re familiar with the methods, materials, tools, and equipment used in the construction, maintenance, and repair of traffic signals, video detection systems, street lighting, and school zone warning devices.

You understand applicable codes, rules, and regulations governing your work and can safely apply industry best practices in the field. You’re comfortable reading and interpreting blueprints, schematics, and roadway plans, and you bring hands-on experience using tools, small machinery, and aerial lift equipment.

Safety is a priority for you. You’re able to work effectively around live electrical components, from aerial buckets at heights up to 55 feet, and in active roadway environments under varying weather conditions. You’re physically capable of performing manual labor and maintaining focus in demanding field settings.

You’re organized and dependable, with the ability to prioritize work, meet deadlines, and maintain accurate records and reports. You communicate clearly and professionally, provide helpful guidance to coworkers and the public, and build strong working relationships across teams.

Above all, you bring sound judgment, problem-solving ability, and a resourceful approach to handling new challenges in a fast-paced, safety-critical environment.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Stooping, walking, sitting, pulling, grasping, hearing, seeing up close, seeing far away, kneeling, reaching, pushing, talking, standing, finger movement, repetitive motions, depth perception. Dependent upon position assignment, may frequently lift up to 25 pounds and occasionally up to 60 pounds.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

Work is performed indoors and outdoors and requires some exposure to environmental changes (e.g., outdoor weather and/or field conditions, warehouses, covered loading docks, garages, etc.) or irate customers, extreme noise, odors, heights and/or dust.
