The Storeroom Specialist assists in maintaining warehouse and storage areas by receiving, storing and issuing supplies, materials, equipment and tools, obtaining and receiving parts, supplies and materials, conducting inventories, and performs data entry, record keeping, and tracking of orders for materials, tools, and equipment.The following statements describe the principal functions of this job and its scope of responsibility but shall not be considered an all-inclusive listing of work requirements. - Maintains inventory records including: cost reports/quotes, receiving reports, requisitions, purchase orders and parts list, specifications, MSDS, tool inventories and equipment maintenance.
- Prepares specifications for supplies, materials, parts, and equipment.
- Contacts vendors to obtain verbal or written price quotes for materials to be ordered and to document prices.
- Places order for supplies, materials, parts and equipment; follow-up on status of orders until items are received in acceptable condition.
- Receives materials, parts, equipment and tools, confirms quantities and prices and oversees storage, security and issuance of materials and tools.
- Inputs received inventory data, accesses, inputs, and retrieves various data into computer-based software and / or asset management program.
- Receives, screens, and transfers telephone calls to appropriate personnel, prepares incoming and outgoing mail and other office clerical duties as needed.
- Prepares and fills orders for staff assigned to the Water/Wastewater Operations department. Resolves daily and special parts issues including: parts for contractors and emergency maintenance requirements, receives stock for replenishment, and special projects depending on seasonal, project requirements,
- Assists the Storeroom Coordinator in determining quantities of supplies, materials, parts, equipment and tools needed to maintain adequate inventory for the operation and maintenance of water and wastewater facilities, equipment and systems.
- Orders, receives, stores, chlorine and other chemicals and maintains related records.
- Scans and documents uniform pick up, repairs, and replacement, assists with the tracking and maintenance of records pertaining to uniform rental for all staff assigned to the Water/Wastewater Operations department.
- Enforces warehouse security, ensures that warehouse safety is observed and that fire protection equipment is operable.
- Maintains records of off-road fuel usage and supplies at the Utilities Maintenance facility. to report when repairs are needed and contact the Contract Vendor for fuel deliveries.
- Maintains record of credit card purchases.
- Operates forklift and other equipment for loading and unloading vehicles and completing various assignments.
- Maintains a safe and clean working area.
Emergency Response
County employees are required to report for work during a state of emergency and are subject to recall around the clock for emergency response operations which may include duties other than those specified in this job description. Minimum Qualifications- High school graduate or equivalent (GED).
- Two (2) years of experience in supply and storeroom or related field.
A combination of education, training and experience may be substituted at the County's discretion.
Licenses, Certifications, or Registrations- Must possess and maintain a valid Florida Driver’s License and be insurable by current insurance carrier.
- Complete necessary certification for NIMS compliance.
- Must possess or be capable of obtaining within 90 days of hire Forklift Competent Person certification.
- May be required to obtain Warehouse Management training/certification.
Required Competencies- Knowledge of all supplies, tools, equipment and materials relating to the operation and maintenance of water and wastewater facilities.
- Knowledge of inventory control techniques and procedures.
- Knowledge in identifying and ordering proper repair parts, supplies, tools, equipment and materials.
- Knowledge of storeroom and equipment safety procedures.
- Ability to prepare and maintain accurate inventory control records and to perform physical inventories to determine quantities of material needed for adequate stocking of supplies.
- Ability to verify invoices in regard to quantities received and prices.
- Ability to operate a personal computer for the purpose of inventory control, records keeping, and data input.
- Knowledge and ability to make minor repairs to small engines and equipment.
- Ability to interact professionally with county staff, vendors, and the public.
- Ability and skill to safely and competently operate forklifts, warehouse order picker, and other material handling equipment.
- Financial responsibilities: accept, receive, and/or collect payments; accountable for inventory/property management; and purchasing authority up to $1,000 without approval from supervisor.
- Skill in written and oral communications.
- Skill in operating manual and power hand tools.

- This is heavy work: Exerting in excess of 100 pounds of force occasionally and/or in excess of 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or in excess of 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
Environmental Conditions- Working inside and outside closely with others. May be exposed to working in inclement weather (ie, dry and wet conditions, extreme temperatures and humidity), dusty conditions, and with chemicals and solvents. Frequently works in a warehouse without climate controls.
- Works in an environment with heavy equipment and machinery that could result in bodily harm to co-workers or others.
