Scripps Memorial Hospital Encinitas’ campus includes Scripps Clinic Encinitas and an outpatient imaging center. We’re home to notable specialty programs including a 24-hour emergency room, accredited stroke care, physical rehabilitation services (including a brain injury day treatment program), our Baby Friendly birthing pavilion and a Level II neonatal intensive care unit.

This is a full-time (80hrs every two weeks) position at Scripps Encinitas.

Hours are 8:30PM-7AM working Monday-Thursday.

Scripps Memorial Hospital Encinitas serves the communities of San Diego’s coastal North County. We offer a full range of clinical and surgical services, including North County’s first Primary Stroke Center, a regionally recognized brain injury program, state-of-the-art imaging center, 24-hour emergency room care, award-winning OB-GYN, maternal health and infant health services.

We invite you to join our highly engaged team in the Sterile Processing department, where we work very closely with the Surgery and Supply Chain departments. In an environment that is welcoming, we provide training that enhances our technician’s skills, allowing them to make sound judgement and work autonomously as needed.

Our Sterile Processing Technicians do not “cut corners”, and they are responsible for the cleaning, packaging, sterilization, storage, and distribution of medical instruments, equipment, and supplies used for patient care. In addition…

  • Cleans and disinfects equipment requiring decontamination or sterilization according to designated principles of asepsis.
  • Responsible for testing and recording of sterilizer equipment performance to ensure operating within sterility standards.
  • Maintains established control systems for supplies and equipment processed.

Qualifications - External

Required Education/Experience/Specialized Skills:

  • Completion of college training program for SPD or online study program or completion of formal on the job training program.
  • Knowledge of sterilizers, surgical instrumentation, and medical equipment. Excellent communication and customer service skills.
  • Certified Registered Central Service Technician (CRCST) or CBSPD Certification.
  • One year of experience in SPD in lieu of certification acceptable upon hire, OR hired into Scripps Sterile Processing Tech Transition Program, but CRCST or CBSPD Certification must be obtained within 6 months of hire.

    Preferred Education/Experience/Specialized Skills/Certification:
  • 1+ years' experience.

Position Pay Range: $28.88-$39.71/hour
