Job Duties:
Observes and practices inspection techniques under close supervision and completes basic inspection reports.
Researches codes and data files for compliance.
May read and interpret construction plans and manufacturers' specifications.
May test various fire and safety systems and conduct evacuation drills.
May discuss corrective actions required for compliance with building owners, facility administrators, contractors, manufacturers, architects, etc.
Attends schools and/or training programs to develop program area expertise and investigative abilities.
Assists other law enforcement agencies in investigations and may provide testimony as necessary.
Trains and responds to man-made or natural disasters or emergencies including, but not limited to: fire, weather, search and rescue, medical, and hazardous material events.
Assists in evaluating and inspecting emergency shelters for occupancy.
Position-Specific Details:
This job posting may be filled anywhere in the State of Louisiana.The domicile (NOTE: domicile in this case only refers to the physical location where you would report to work. It is NOT where you live.) will not be known until there is a vacancy. This position will require travel within the assigned district and occasionally to areas outside of the domicile, as requested by the Administration.Appointment Type: Probational, Promotional, or Job Appointment

Compensation:The salary offered will be determined based on qualifications and experience. The special entrance rate (SER)bi-weekly rates for each title are as follows:
