A prestigious Am Law firm is seeking a State and Local Tax Associate Attorney with 0–3 years of experience to join its highly regarded Houston office. This position offers a unique opportunity to work on complex state and local tax controversy, planning, and transactional matters for sophisticated clients across a wide range of industries.


The successful candidate will join a collaborative and intellectually rigorous practice that handles challenging tax issues nationwide. Key Responsibilities


• Conduct extensive legal research involving state and local tax laws across multiple jurisdictions

• Analyze complex tax controversy and dispute resolution matters

• Assist with tax planning strategies and transactional tax issues

• Draft memoranda, legal opinions, briefs, and client communications

• Collaborate with partners on sophisticated state and local tax matters

• Research legislative, regulatory, and judicial developments affecting clients

• Develop practical solutions for complex multistate tax issues

• Support clients facing audits, administrative proceedings, and tax disputes

Qualifications


• J.D. from an accredited law school with strong academic credentials

• 0–3 years of relevant legal experience

• Strong interest in state and local tax law

• Excellent legal research and analytical abilities

• Strong organizational and time management capabilities
